I am so bummed out tonight
| Mon, 06-30-2003 - 11:25pm |
A patient of mine died tonight at 5PM and his death was so senseless. He decided to take an experimental drug for arthritis. One of the side effects of the drug was cancer and he developed small cell carcinoma which spread throughout his body like wildfire and killed him in three weeks. He was 68 years old. I am so pissed, I am so upset that the medical community thinks cancer, as a side effect, is acceptable, it is not! The philosophy behind Homeopathy is Likes Cures Likes, Minimum dose and Treat the Whole Person and the first thing we have to swear is...DO NO HARM. In two years I will take the Hippocratic Oath...yes, homeopaths must take it too. I have read it numerous times and have embraced it and practise it everyday of my life. Unfortunately so many traditional doctors choose to forego the side effects of marketed drugs, not just experimental, in hopes of securing a cure. This I find an abomination and have discussed it with many traditional physician friends and they feel the same way but tell me they have nothing else to prescribe and the benefits outweigh the risks. Tell that to my patient who is now dead from a side effect!
Sorry for venting like this but I aam just extremely upset. Hugs, Bern

that drug?
And I hope that he led a full life with lots of
love all around him. I will say a prayer for
his family to be in peace and comfort.

I agree with you completely, some doctors will do anything without concern for the consequences! I'm glad you're not that kind! The doc who put my mom in a wheelchair was the same way, and wouldn't take any responsibility for it. "First, do no harm" is the phrase they all should go by!

It is really a horrible thing to have to take the chance of getting cancer to help cure another medical problem and then dying from that cancer.
I am so sorry and hope that soon this type of senseless death will soon not have to happen to someone else.
Love and Hugs

That is so sad to hear. To many of the traditional drugs used have serious side effects. Wonder often myself how they decide this is acceptable.
Guess it's like the Service, so many are "expendable". There also I would like to know, expendable to whom? Just makes a person angry.
Hugs,

I thought that these drugs had to be tested and approved before giving them out to patients!
