I finally got down these stairs and thought I would surprise those who may be in chat tonight, but no-o-o-o-o-o-o-o! No chat available! So, here I am and will try to bring you all up to date.
My surgery went well as has been reported and today I got my staples out! 25 of the little buggers! That means I can finally get in the shower tonight! Yay! Have you ever had to endure, let's see, 13 days of PTA sponge baths? Yecch! And Frank has had to wash my feet! Now there's something we both look forward to....NOT! LOL! I am so ticklish, and he's just being so gingerly about it afraid he's gonna hurt me...LOL! Well, it's quite a session, I tell ya.
It was so nice when Keely was here. Frank had to go to Seattle to pick up his kids who are here to visit. So she came for several days and helped me out. She cooked up a storm and put all kinds of goodies in sealable containers so that I could transport them in my bag I tie to my walker. Yum, that girl can cook! It was fun to have her here. It's really the first time she's had away from Dallas since he was born. Can you believe his 2nd birthday was June 16???
Anyway, I can get around pretty well, but the doc has only ok'd me for 50% weight bearing on the leg for now til I see him in August, which means I stay on the walker. Then graduate to cane. By mid-September I hope to only need the cane occasionally.
There have only been a few things that have really been very tough. One, could only sleep on my back for some time. Hate that! Have never been a back sleeper and my body got so sore! Two, finally found a chair that is comfortable to sit in for more than 5 minutes--a chair from our deck furniture--LOL! Well, whatever works! Three, I'm bored. I've already read three books. Haven't really rented any of the videos I intended to watch because his girls are here...they shouldn't see some of them.
But now that I have successfully navigated the stairs, I will be at the computer at least once every day! Hope to make chat in the a.m. if it is up! And will check out the board.
Thank you to everyone who sent me cards. It really is a pickup, and I mean it! I feel sorta isolated until I get them all out and look at them. And Leilani! You can fool me once! But I'm wise to you, Hula Girl! I opened that thing like it was a letter bomb! LOL!
Kaci, I'm afraid I missed that your dad passed away. I'm so very sorry. I know your family means so much to you. I can feel it in your posts. What a nice day you had with your aunt.
Lori, how is Akiva doing?
Welcome to Paula, Betsy and Ladybug. You will love this place!
I know I've probably missed other stuff, and have little hope of catching up! But I love you guys, you know that! Thanks so much for all your encouragement and thoughts!
Se ya,
Red

Yes, I am wise to you Hula Girl, but I wouldn't put it past you to try anything! Ha!
You had asked me in your card if the surgery hurt. Well, I was totally out of it, and now I can truly say that all the awful old hip arthritis pain is virtually gone. Only post-op swelling and muscle strains are left over. To me, that is a miracle, because the last 9 months have been so terrible. When I think about how hard it's been and that now that pain is gone, it brings tears to my eyes!
And Lei, I finally read back far enough to see that you've had your own physical problems lately. That just makes me 100 times more grateful and respectful to you for trying to brighten my days here in recuperation. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! You are an angel! (with little tiny horns, of course, but we won't talk about that, ok? Ha!) I hope that you have gotten some control over that lupus bug and that he's taking a hike as I write this!
Many hugs from here,
Red
I sure hope that the re-do is successful! When are you going to do that?
Hugs,
Red
P.S. It was so good to hear your voice on the phone. Thank you for calling and relaying my message! You're a sweetie!
Yep, it's good to be back and was fun talking to you all in chat this a.m.!
Have a good day, Lor!

Sure is nice to see you back. Sounds like the surgery went well. Won't be long before your dancing.
