Okay quick update! all the problems with settlement hopefully are over!Settlement is scheduled for noon tomorrow! I have a little over two weeks to finish packing , getting organized and leave for Texas. I'm still trying to work out all the final details. How I'mmoving, how I'm getting there and how to pack the animals! Spartely or together, all crated or not!
I packed all day yesterday, also seem to be on self injury mode. Yesterday I fell off my step down into family room,(remember the fall at Las Vegas outside hotel) twisted left ankle and badly bruised left forearm, but about an hour before that I was packing a cabinet and pulled soemthing out with a screw attached, yes it stuck me, on inside of right wrist I looked like a water fountain but bleeding instead. I'm bruised and sore today but off to get started, Walmart this morning with dd, then doctors with ds at lunch, fire inspection on house at 4:30, and game at 6:30 if the rain stops!
I'll try to get back over weekend, Sunday I'm going on Canoe trip all day! Have a great day!:):) Hugs to all! Keep smiling! I'll try to stop hurting myself ! LOL
Luv Ya! Debby:)

Take it from one who knows---sedate and crate cats!! They only need to maybe be let out in the afternoon and evening...that's when you put them on a collar and leash. They may not use a "catbox" but at least you tried. They won't eat or drink much either. When you get to your new house, make sure they stay inside for about a week. We usually isolate ours in a bedroom while moving things in. I also use their old catbox with new litter in it so it smells "right" to them. LOL
As for dogs, I make sure the leashes are close at hand, try to have them take a walk regularly during the driving part, and keep them with me at night. They will also probably be more "clingy" than normal as they get used to the new place. Take their favorite bed, blankey and toys with them. If they're used to being crated, do it. We haven't done that since ours hang out with us and lay on the floor.
We also take several or more gallons of the old town's water so they don't have get used to new water, which can cause them to have "tummy" troubles, etc. Check with the vet if you have a canine that gets carsick....I just read something about ginger helping their tummies as well as ours. But haven't used that.
We have moved lots of times with both cats and dogs and hedgehogs and guinea pigs....
somehow they always end up with me in the van....hmmm got to change that! We juyst give them more attention and watch them closer than usual!LOL
Good luck and enjoy your canoeing this weekend.
Hugs,
Kathie
