Zana and I passed a bookshop yesterday in Corvallis and it stopped me in my tracks. It was featuring a book called Year with the Yeti by Gilderoy Lockhart. Then we looked at the rest of the books there...A couple of other Lockhart books, the Standard Book of Spells, even Hogwarts, a History. They looked so real! But they were, of course, just book covers that an enterprising employee made for the display. It took us into the shop, though, and I bought a book of questions about the books (So You Think You're and Expert on Harry Potter!) One thing I realized when we were going thrugh the questions is that there must be different editions of those books and that they are not all alike. Now I'm wondering what the books published in England are like compared to the ones published here.

We had a good time. I didn't get there until 12:30 last night and we ended up staying up until 3:00 talking. I love her apartment. It is roomy and funky, lots of windows, very light. We planted petunias in some flower boxes outside her living room window and had breakfast with one of her roommates and her mother. Went to a "baker"...also had sandwiches, quiches, all sorts of things. Z and I have decided that this place is a must-go-to every time I visit and I've decided that I need to visit often!

Hope you are all having a great day.

Kat, ds is the fan in our family, has read all the books more than once (on his second time reading the last one now). He doesn't fail to tell anyone he meets that the illistrator of the covers is from MN. And like you, if he had seen a bookstore like that, there is no way we could have driven past. We do know a boy that was in England recently and bought the last book over there. The story is essentially the same, but some of the words are different (using the english form of some words), cookie for instance, may say biscuit in the English version. Other than that, I'm not sure that there are different books. I have only read the first two and saw the first two movies. I told ds I will read them as the movies come out and looks like I still have a year before the 3rd movie comes out. Glad you and dd had a fun shopping trip. Charlie

I TAKE IT ALL BACK!!!

After posting this morning, I got down that first HP book and skimmed through it. There is so much in there that I've forgotten! All the other books I've reread and know very well but the first one was read right before the movie came out and I've not read it again since. So I think I've mixed up a lot of things that happened in the book vs the movie. Anyway, it doesn't look like things were presented differently in different editions after all. That wouldn't really have made sense anyway. So now I'm embarrassed and will have to curl up and reread that first one so I can get everything straight again!
