It's been a busy weekend up til now. Friday morning did the 15 mile bike ride with ds. Weather was perfect....about 65 and partly cloudy, got finished about 10 min before it rained a bit. Came home and ds was so tired he ate lunch and slept for 3 hrs, lol. Then we picked those dreaded raspberries. The patch was a mess, but we managed to pick a couple of dozen pints. I sent ds off to boy scout camp yesterday morning then came home and spent 4-1/2 HOURS cleaning out the weeds and dead raspberry bushes so it would be easier to pick. What a job, but the berries are so big and sweet that I just hate to see them go to waste. My neighbor came down and picked and chatted while I cleaned out weeds. Since none of you are coming to help, I'll be out there picking again today or tomorrow. Gardens still need some weeding, but I'm taking it easy for now, may get out there this evening as the sun goes down. After alot of rainy days, we've had a lovely weekend. The board seems pretty quiet these days, so everyone must be out enjoying the summer. Back later....Charlie

Wish I could come help you pick, Charlie. My father-in-law used to call me to come get raspberried, even after I was divorced from his son. He had a pack of girls who wanted them but only if he would pick them for them. So I got them instead!

15 miles. Wow! That is really impressive.

Pam, I make raspberry jelly (dh doesn't like all the seeds). I've canned tomatoes too, but not in a couple of years. We also have a tree full of cherries and I'm thinking I should try to make some jame out of those. One year we had some great apples...no worms or spots, I canned quite a few. Made pies, breads, and cakes during the winter with them, yummm. Enjoy your gardening/canning. Charlie

Yes, long sleeves and long pants. Our bushes are taking over the yard too, I'm thinking of digging up some of the younger plants, transplanting them, and mowing the old patch down. Time to start over and get control of it. Charlie

Pam, he really needed the rest. We went to a play that night also and then he was off to boyscout camp early Saturday morning, so I'm so glad he rested a bit before hand. It'll be a busy week for him. Charlie

I agree Lor, there is no way I would have stayed out there for 4 HOURS if I hadn't had company. And after letter her pick, she invited dh and I to dinner, sounds like a fair trade off to me *smile*. Charlie

LOL Kat, he didn't raise those girls right...if they want to eat, they have to pick!!! haha. My problem is ds doesn't eat them, so that won't work with me. Yup, 15 miles, and I plan on another one next week, then we're going to try the 25 mile. I'm hoping to get out of the 50 mile in 8 hrs. Let the scout leaders do that one, lol. Charlie
