Why are Ads taking up so much space?

Is it me? I was under the impression our board was revamped to save space. Why then do we now have huge advertisements at the top, which I refuse to look at in protest, taking up a huge amount of space? I know, ads make money. Old ladies sharing their lives, friendships and supporting each other do not but I was under the impression that was what this board was for. I know the bottom line is what keeps us going but does it have to be done so blantly? What I am about to say may upset some people and I am truly sorry for that but I have to say it. Members complained about all the prayers offered up in the past. I can assure you I am not an overly religious person but I do believe in the power of prayer. We all come from different backgrounds and must respect these differences. In fact we must embrace these difference because it is what makes us all so special. What I am trying to get at here is prayer caused major dissention on the board but being pushed out by all these ads does not. Prayers have never caused anyone harm, never missled anyone, never caused anyone harm...can advertisements say the same thing? I guess what I am getting at here is people complain about prayer yet nothing is said about letting advertisers push us around and dictate board format. Maybe I am way off base here but for once we need to just sit back and say enough already...this is our space. If you want us to pay for it fine but don't jerk us around.

I will now get down off my soap box. Sorry if I have offeneded anyone It was not my intention to do so. This is just my opinion. Love you all, Bernie

(((((Bernie)))))...are you having a bad day my friend?? I also get tired of the ads, but the alternative is that ivillage does not exist and we can't have that!! We need this board for us, for our friendships, to have a common place to go and check up on one another. As for praying, I will continue to do that!!!!!! Love you sweetie, Gabby

So sorry for wigging out like that. Yes, I was having a terrible day and jsut cut loose here which I should not have done. My apologies to one and all if I have offended anyone. It definitely was not my intention. I think all the stress of the upcoming surgery, Mac's brother's surgery, my son's condition and numerous other things just got the best of me. Once again sorry. Love ya all, Bernie

There is absolutely no reason for an apology my friend. You can come here anytime and vent, ok? Hey we are ladies in our 50's (most of us) with alot going on our lives, not to mention menopause. Sometimes "it" just has to hit the fan...LOL. Big Hugs, Gabby

Bernie you have a good point. I hate pop up adds. Some one on the board had a solution on how to get rid of pop up adds. But I can't remember what that was. Bernie you just go ahead and speak your peace. I love it when people finally say enough we need a change because these adds are affecting our well being in a negative manner! Good for you girlfriend! I love to see spunky people around the boards...
