Do you know your own blood type? Do you have written in your wallet or on your medical card?

Yes I know my blood type and have it recorded. I also made sure that my children know theirs. My DH has no idea what his is. I can't imagine anyone not knowing.

I wear a "Medical Alert" bracelet which has the most important medical info on it plus it has this phone number to call to find out my medical status. And I have a credit type card which when rushed to the er all they have to do is swipe it through this machine at the hospital up pops every thing you need to know about me comes up on their screen. Pretty cool ha?

I think it IS good to know, and helps

in certain situations...like if you want to *donate*

blood in an emergency, etc.

If you need blood yourself, they STILL have to type and cross

match the units of blood, regardless if you *tell*

them what you blood type is. Usually, in a real emergency,

they give the patient the universal donor blood type which is

"O neg." But, like I said, it is good to know for your own sake...

when wanting to donate, etc.

The answer...I do not know my blood type.

HUGS! Sara
