I feel like I'm in the twilite zone ..

...this summer. Been sleeping late, staying up late, doing a lot of nothing (or as little as possible) it seems - basically feeling REALLY lazy, just WAY out of character for me...& I'm exhausted. Don't know if it's the cycle of the heat, the downward spiral of I'm just doing so little, that when I do, it wears me out!, this past year is just catching up w/me, or what?!

The G'ma in me is pulling out unfinished projects for the newly announced addition now that I have a reason to finish them. Got a quilt top basted ready to quilt, a couple baby sweaters ready to sew together, & have started one new baby afghan - of course after next month I won't have much time to work on them. I think we're on schedule for having MIL's house as cleared out as we're gonna get it by the end of August - been trying to get up to Vegas twice a week to get stuff ready for a yard sale now that we've pretty much gone thru everything - but 115+ really puts a kibosh on working up the energy to get as much done as we need to w/no AC up there & a 2 hr drive to boot! The plan is on for going to my folks 50th wingding in Iowa next week - we haven't been to their place in almost 10 yrs tho my Mom's been coming out to ours yearly & my Dad in 2000 for D27's wedding & this May for S16's HS graduation. I think my sis has something under her hat to celebrate my 50th birthday just because it'll happen while we're there - oh joy!! Gearing up for S16 leaving my nest for university life in 4 weeks, & my uni nite classes start the following week also - 9 units this semester w/a relatively demanding instructor this time around. Our elementary/jr hi schools swing into action next week so I'll be on call for subbing for them already tho I'm not feeling like I'll be readily available just yet. The HS doesn't start til the 18th & they're the ones that really keep me hopping.

Last week I sent in an interest letter for a f/t 2-county in-home child care coordinator position just announced in the employment section of our local paper. I don't know what I'm doing here...I like being in the classroom w/the kids, but I don't particularly like the C**P that goes along w/being a F/T teacher. I like taking the univ classes - the challenge of working my b**t off for the grades? - maybe, & I certainly would like to get my BS now that I'm only 9 classes away from it. But I've been extremely lucky in our financial situation that I really haven't worked F/T since our move here (6 yrs now) - not that I didn't try w/my daycare for a few years, but...This last year has been really full w/working 3/4 time & attending school 3/4 time plus MIL's chemo treks, the kids, house, etc...

I'm just feeling really wore out & can't seem to find the energy to stay caught up even tho I really do have the time right now to do just that.

Good grief! With all you have going on, how can you not be tired? I don't have nearly as much on my to-do list as you do and I'm beat! Just reading about all you have going on is wearing me out!

I hope you're feeling more energetic soon. That heat and traveling can take a lot out of you too. Maybe a little down time is a good thing, it lets you recover and be ready to face the next thing on your list.

Jo, sometimes we all need some "down" time, this must be your time. Give yourself a break, the projects can wait. Hugs, Gabby

Joanne, I can relate to what you're saying. Sounds like you've been overloaded for a while and ready for a crash. But when you're used to being to busy, it's hard to enjoy taking it easy. You always feel like you should be getting things done. The only thing I can suggest is to stop looking at the big picture for a while and just take things a little bit at a time. Take some time out for yourself and do something that you enjoy. Sounds like the trip to Iowa will be nice. Sometimes it's just good to get away.

Take care of yourself.
