I have a lot of catching up to do but

I'll have to catch up on posts later. Just thought I'd write something before I totally fall into obscurity. Been busy around here. Both my kids and also ex-dh came this last week-end. Dh brought a chipper/shredder that a friend of his was selling. We tried it out and it is just what I need...and only $150. The only one I could find around here was over $600. Ds spent a good part of the week-end chopping up branches from those trees that came down and I have continued to work on them this week. So far I've managed to clean up most of the front yard....maybe 15% of it all. So much for wondering if I could get it all done in one really good day's effort! And good thing I didn't have to rent a chipper at $60/day. On the other hand, I'm getting an impressive pile of mulch built up that I will be able to use in so many places. I'm a happy person.

Ex dh built a wall in my garage. I now have two rooms instead of one garage. I love it! He got most of the sheetrock done and also cut a hole for the window. It is so nice...so bright with all that light coming in. Doesn't feel like a garage at all anymore. I am finishing the sheetrock and taping all the cracks. When that's done, I'll sand it all down, prime it and paint it. It's going to be yellow...not bright, just nice. Then I can start collecting storage units...drawers, cabinets, shelves. There is going to be so much storage out there. For someone who has been storage deprived most of her adult life, this is like dying and going to heaven.

He also pulled one of my kitchen cabinets out. They are going to go out there too because they are awful and I want them out of my kitchen. And no, I don't have anything to take their place yet but that's okay. I'll deal with that. (Ms Lily seemed to think that was the wrong way to go about things!) The cabinet he pulled out was on the wall that had most of the leakage last winter from my roof. When he took it off, it was almost solid black back there from the mold. It was so awful. Stayed up late that night and spent a couple of hours cleaning it up and retaping the corners where the sheetrock pulled apart. It looks so much better.

Zana and Joe spent the week-end laughing at me. They always used to fight. It's so nice hearing them laugh together, even if it is at my expense. LOL

The house itself is more messed up than ever but that's okay...I feel like I'm finally making some headway. Then there's the bathroom, the bedroom, the sun room that I want, the shop...I'm going to be busy for a long time.

You sound slike a happy camper, my friend! Good think you had that cabinet taken out of the kitchen. The garage area will be great for you & I think yellow will be very cheery. It's nice it was such a pleasant weekend, even if they both laughed at you (all in fun of course). Big Hugs, Gabby

Kat I have to agree with Ms Lily about the kitchen cabinet but it seems to me that you would do it that way so why not. I am glad to hear that you got the mold cleared up though so that will be so much better for you. Slow but sure my friend you will get that house the way you want it.

Love ya

Mary

Sounds like lots of progress was made at your place Kat. You are always such a busy girl but that keeps you young and agile...right?

That shredder sounds great. We rented one after one of our cedars toppled over and they ain't cheap! And the fresh mulch is wonderful. The storage area will be heavenly! And it's good to get that mold outta there now! YUCK! Awful stuff and it seems to be a big problem for lots of folks lately.

Our new bath is 90% complete. At least we can us the tub, sink & toilet. Not the shower yet. That's fine...the jacuzzi is the thing we want to use in that bath, anyway. And the handyman should be around soon to finish up the other stuff.

Hugs!

Wow, Kat, you have been busy. No wonder we haven't seen your cheery face around here. The garage "room" sounds great. And it's really a good thing you pulled that cupboard out and got the mold out, that can really make a person sick. Try to slow down a bit and enjoy the summer *smile*. Charlie
