Need help with diarrhea and nausea

I posted this question on another board but have not received any answers yet. I have a cold or something and a lot of drainage into my stomach. I also was recently on Paxil Cr for anxiety and a decongestant for the cold. I have had diarrhea for several days and nausea and have not been able to eat. I am concerned about getting dehydrated and sick of feeling sick. Does anyone have anything to suggest to deal with these problems?

Sounds like what you have is the flu and not a cold. Call your Dr for the best suggestions.

All I can suggest would to maybe go back to the doctor perhaps you have a reaction to the meds. Good luck and hope that it gets taken care of soon for you!

Hello Livewell,

Just my opinion but how long has it been since you stopped taking the Paxil? Did you just quit or cold turkey and how long were you on it?

I suffer from anxiety myself and have been on meds for a long time.

Maybe the decongestant you are on isn't going well with the Paxil. Paxil stays in your body for awhile.

Allergies could be involved also, but I would strongly suggest talking to your doctor about this. Being dehydrated is nothing to play with, and in worst case seniro would would be hospitalized so they can put fluids into your body intraveniously...I said Worst Case Senario. Just want to let ya know how being dehydrated can be dangerous. I'm sure it won't go that far gal.

I hope you get in touch w/your doctor today. I also hope that you are feeling better real soon. Hugs, Terry

The best thing, of course, is to see your doctor. In the meantime, try to get fluids into your system but stay away from the sugary ones. Gator aid or soemthing like pedialyte is good because they help restore the electrolyte balance.

But again, if this has gone on for more than three days, if you are running a temp over 100 or if you are showing signs of dehydration, see a doctor. Make sure he reviews the meds that you are on or have recently discontinued.

Hope you're feeling better soon. It's just not fair to be sick in the summer!
