I guess that's what summer is about, huh? Ds and I did our second 15 mile bike ride yesterday. It was a perfect afternoon, sunny and reasonably cool (78) with a nice breeze. We were blessed with the most wonderful site. After about 1/2 hour into the ride, a deer ran right in front of ds, crossed the trail and ran up a bit and then into the woods again. As we watched, stunned, I heard a rustling in the woods and told ds there was another deer in there, I watched closely and within abuot 10 ft of me was a litt fawn, just staring out at me and not sure what to do. You could just tell she was looking for mom. She finally came out onto the trail and was almost within touching distance. Then she turned around and ran back to the woods, in a few second she came out behind us and crossed over, followed by another fawn. I'm sure they finally found mom after we left. We were so amazed.

Today will be busy, alot of running with ds, and then dd and her dh are coming into town for a week tomorrow night. They'll be in and out alot as she is here for a wedding and his family is in Duluth, so he'll spend some time up there. But it will be good to see them again.

I'm thinking of you all, and hoping you're well and find time to relax a bit. Have a great day! Charlie

How special that was for you, Charlie. The is something so nice about deer. No matter how often I see one, it still stops me in my tracks. And to see the two little fawns, what a nice experience.

15 miles! Wow! That's quite an undertaking. I keep thinking how much I would like to start riding a bike but there are just too many hills around here. Too labor intensive and not fun.

Have a great day.

I know, Gabby, and I could just kick myself for not bringing my camera. Dh bought me a new one and it just about fits in the palm of your hand, so there is no excuse, lol. Last time we went biking on that path, we saw alot of baby squirrels foraging around. Charlie

I know what you mean about those hills, Kat. Actually we live right next to a county road that has a speed limit of 55 mph, so dh doesnt want us on that one. We have a great biking trail about 20 miles from us, so pack up the bikes and go there, really quite flat, and very wooded. The total length is about 21 miles, but you can start on either end, or in the middle ($3 charge for adults, but worth it). We usually start in the middle and go just 1/2 way. When we try for the 25 mile, we'll have to start at the other end, lol. Ds is working on a biking merit badge for boy scouts. Charlie
