from my blood tests. I do have diabetes. The good news is that Bill is working with me on what we eat and the daily walks I'm supposed to take. My wake up call slapped me in the face ( or maybe it kicked me in the butt) and I am now ready to eat better and excersise more. I have to go to a couple of classes that explain everything and teach me how to check my blood sugar daily. Of course my colorestoral is too high, (Char, I'm there with you now), but loosing weight should bring that down. We are starting out with diet, then in 2 months when I go back, if it isn't better, I start taking meds for both. HELP, I'm not very confident right now that I can do this. After all, I have tried many times before to loose weight and all I have been doing since I was pregnant with my first child is put the weight on, off, on, off, on, on and on. Can you beleave that when I got married at 18, I weighed 108 lbs.

On another note, a couple of weeks ago I got out all my clothes of smaller sizes that I was saving for the time I would wear then again (ha ha)and gave them away. I filled 8 grocery bags. Now you really know how much I'm a pack rat.

Well, yesterday was spent working in the gardens, my cottoneaster got a hair cut. We finished the patch of front yard in the shade where grass doesn't grow. We put down a large pea gravel. Did that last week. We call it pebble beach. We went to get some stepping stones and a couple of little cridders. It turned out alright.

Today I started painting my new sewing room. I'm starting with the closit. Oh yeah, I bought a second sewing machine. A light weight for all the carrying around I do of my machine. This way I can set my big one up and never take it off the table, so to speak. Bill is making me shelves for my stache of material. It'll be a while before I tackle the stripping & staining of the day bed I got for in there. It's coming ritht along.

Welcome newbies. I'm the list lady so do give me your vitals for them. Love and prayers for those who need them. Love and BIG HUGS for all. ..Free

I know it's not the news you wanted. Free, did I tell you I am diabetic also? It's borderline and I control with diet, but I didn't do that while I was in Vegas. You can do this with diet also, by eating just regular food, but smaller portions and instead of 3 meals a day, eat 5 meals a day, but smaller ones. You will learn all about that. The blood testing kits that are available now are so easy to use, you won't have any problem with that. Big Hugs, Gabby

Okay girlfriend you can do this. Just don't beat your self up. This is the best time to diet. Ya got fruits in season... most of the time it is to hot to cook so make sticky rice and put tuna on it for dinner. Now ya got to exercise so if you just walk two houses down and back then reward you self with watermelon. Throw all the sweets out of the house and when ya want something sweet eat a plum. Make a lot of salads with all sort of stuff in it just to get use to eating them then slowly take the cheese and other fat stuff off of your salad. If you fall on your face then your normal just get your self up as fast as you can if it is a day or two that is okay just get back on the rabbit food as fast as you can with out hurting yourself. Main thing love your self for who you are and get off your case. Just try and try and try and when your tired and want to go back the way you were then do.... but then get back on your feet and go for loosing the weight for yourself....

I am there for you clapping as you go by me and If you fall on your face in front of me I promise I will have my first aid kit with me to patch you up!

But do this when you feel it is right for you!

Aloha,

Leilani

No Gabby, I didn't know you are also diabetic. Its good to cry help to someone in the same boat. I really should have started a long time ago because for many years, I too have been borderline. I just denied that anything could happen to me. The ole "maybe her but not me". Thanks for being here for me, I CAN DO THIS. BIG HUGS. ..Free

Give yourself a big hug from us Free. Once you make all you need to do for yourself a daily routine you will wonder why it took you so long. Just think of how great you'll look (even prettier than now...if that's posssible!) and feel in a couple of months. And you can come here to gripe, vent and get support.

Lots of hugs!

Good Morning Free

Well now you know and you just have to do it now my friend. Mary I do understand in a way. I thought I could never quit smoking. I had tried so many times and failed. and finally it happenned. I got a wake up call that said if you don't stop this you are going to kill yourself. I quit smoking after 30 years. I know eating is different after all one can live without smoking but you cannot live without eating. If you don't eat right you will not feel well and you will have so many problems. You can do this my friend I know you can. Just look how far you have come since joining our group here. Mary you are stronger than you realize and beside you have us to help you. You just keep that cell phone handy my friend you never know when I will give you a call on the weekend just to say howdy girlfriend.

Love

Mary

Lifestyle changes are always a bit mindboggling, but we're all right here with ya!

Of course you know you'll lose the weight now - you've just given away all the smaller size clothes. Isnt' that how it works?!?!?

I should get you out here to help me w/my reorganization of my sewing room into part of my daycare/playroom. I finally got it started in May w/my MIL using the bedroom/sewing room for hospice care - but have taken another break from getting that particular chore completed - maybe next Summer...

Ah Free I am sorry that it turned out that you have Diabetes, but I am glad that you found out now rather than when it was too late. Yes I know you can do it now.... reason you could not do it before is you never had a solid enough of a reason... this time you do! You know you can count on us when you are on those days of "I can't do this" so do not feel bad if and when you have to call on us, we will be here.

You are lucky that Bill is so willing to help you ... that is a good part of the battle going it alone!

Bet your sewing room will look great... I wish I had one.. hate dragging the sewing machine out everytime I want to sew.

Have a good day! Hugs Lor
