Update on the job situation.....

Well, ladies, it's not looking good. My pharmacist boss called me Friday night to tell me the asst mgr has suspended me "until further notice". Which means I'm off work with no pay! He has sent his version of the events to HR and it's now up to them what to do. I'll find out tomorrow when the supervisor gets back from vacation. And no, pharmacy employees are not in the union, so I don't have them to back me up. I wrote an apology for allowing my swearing to be overheard, copied the store manager (who is also on vacatin this week!) the asst mgr, my pharmacist boss and HR. I also said I believe the manager should stay calm and reasonable no matter what kind of day he's had. I've had good reviews since I've been there, so maybe....but just in case, I had an interview yesterday for a dental assisting job. Been a long time but I still remember most of the tools! Close door, open window, things will work out.

I miss dd!! She's in Indiana for the week with a friend and her family. She just called, they're going to the beach on some lake. It's just too quiet around here!!

Thanks for all the concern, my friends. Don't know what I'd do without you all!!! You keep me sane!!

Love, Pam

HI Pam

Was going to check Gabby's post to see if you had answered here when I saw you post today.

I think you did a good thing writing the letter but you will just have to wait and see what happens there. Dental assisting would be good for you after all you know how that works. As you said close door, open window.

I bet you do miss your DD. Sounds like she is having a good time though.

Hope today is a good day for you keeping my fingers crossed that this job mess works out the best way possible.

Love and Hugs

Mary

Sure hope that they let you know soon Pam! I think that is being so darn petty on their part... hope you can keep this job..............but if not then I hope the dental assistant one comes through for you!

It is awful when there are no kids at home... think when they are there how nice it woudl be but when they are gone it is way too quiet.

Fingers crossed things turn out for you Pam!

Hugs, Lor

Did I get this right? Did you not get a chance to tell your side of this whole thing? It's okay for him to act inappropriately and be verbally abusive, but not for you to react under your breath? Don't you have an HR process whereby you would have an opportunity to tell your side, or is it just a good ol boys network? If so, then I'd be happy to leave if I were you!

Pam, I'm sure that with your past reviews, they have to give you another chance. Everyone has a bad day and like you said, your asst supervisor should learn to control his temper and maybe go to management classes. In any case, maybe, since this guy is so hard to work with, the dental job is the way to go. I'm hoping all works out for you. Let us know what happens. Charlie

I don't know about the laws in your state, but in California, an employer has to provide an appropriate working condition. No a/c when you would normally have it is not acceptable, and you had the right to keep asking to have it fixed. Unfortunately, companies also have the right to fire people for being insubordinate. So, you're in a tough position. I also don't understand why HR is not asking for your side of the situation. You could bring a harrassment suit against the company. I would think they'd be concerned about that. I think it was good that you apologized, but the boss should be made to apologize to you as well. Personally, I'd rather leave a job where the boss is abusive, the working conditions are intolerable, and HR isn't interested in fairness. It's unfortunate that this happened, but I believe it occured for a reason. Maybe you will find a job with good working conditions where you are treated fairly and respectfully.

Pam, I know you liked a lot of things about that job but I don't think he sounds like someone that would be good to work with. I just hope that whatever happens, you end up better than you were before. Good luck.

Dental assisting, huh? Never know, this may be your next direction my friend. Could be a good change for you, what do you think? I am keeping my fingers crossed for you with your pharmacy job. If you change jobs I want it to be your decision!! Big HUgs, Gabby
