SAME SEX MARRIAGE....HOW DO YOU FEEL?

Well the place that I work does mostly weddings, worked hundreds of them. Today we got into the "big" discussion about same sex marriages. Now that it is legal in Canada they feel it's just a matter of time before we have some at our place of business. Being that I work in a Military ( MOSTLY MALE) environment every one is up in arms about this.

Being one of the senior people there I put in my two cents worth which was not received very well.

My philosophy is why can't a man love another man, or visa versa. If it brings you happiness and is not hurting anyone does it really matter if you love someone who is the same sex???. I just don't understand why people are so against it, I mean their not causing anyone else any harm, and just want to love...who they love.

So I could go on, but you see where I stand, I was just wondering how you other ladies felt about this, I would be interested in hearing any one else's opinion.

I do have an opinion, but.... and I mean this nicely......I believe this is a topic better left on the doorstep with politics and religion. It's one that could be hashed and rehashed some more and nobody would change anyones personal thoughts on the subject but it can create lots of sparks. Just too large of a 'hot potato' for most groups. That's probably why there are boards specifically to deal with questions like this one.

Ok, so I know there are a few of you that probably have a hard time seeing me sidestep something controversial...but, there you go!

Barb, don't let me discourage you from asking questions though. It's good to have things to think about here and obviously draws some people (like me) out from being the lurker-loo door. Welcome to the board! Kay

Hi Barb, nice to meet you. First off homosexuality is not a personal choice its biological in nature. Science is finally backing me up in this as it has recently found out in the past two years that something happens in utero to determine a person's sexuality. When they say a person is born hetro or homo sexual that is correct, it is not something they can change or choose. Who in their right mind would willingly choose to be homosexual? As for your question about same sex marriages...I think its fine. If two people love each other why shouldn't they marry? I know many gays and those that have chosen to marry are happy and doing well. Why should they be denied this? Just my own personal thought on this matter. Hugs, Bernie
