A friend of ours got bad news
| Tue, 08-12-2003 - 2:58pm |
over the phone this morning. I can't believe that they told her that she has cancer over the phone. I hope that it was a mistake and they really told her that they want to do more tests to rule out cancer. We are hoping that it was just that she heard the C word and blanked. She is one of my dh's cyber-coworkers and has twin high school boys and a younger daughter. She is one of the sweetest people I've ever met. We won't know more til at least tomorrow. This bad stuff happening to good people is really the pits!!-BB

to rule out cancer.
And if she does turn out to have cancer, it is
not a death sentence. yet. With medical advances
these days, there are more survivors than not.
I hope she is a woman of faith because she will
need it to fill the worry gap.
I will say a prayer for her.
Please keep us updated as well.
love,
cindy

Here our dr will not tell you anything over the phone if you have had tests you either get a letter or a call saying that the dr would like you to come in to discuss your tests... and that is not just if there is bad news that they have to tell you.
WIll send prayers her way.. she will need them for the next little while!
Hugs and prayers to your friend, Lor

I did hear one doctor say that she prefers to tell her patients over the phone, while they're at home, since it's a comfortable and safe place. That way, they can absorb the fact, then concentrate when she has them in the office to go over treatment plans, since when you hear the "C" word, you tend to blank out. I can see the point, but sure don't agree with it.

I vote for the blank and it's tests to rule out cancer also. BB have to tell you though...even if it is they can do something these days. That nasty word came out of my doctors mouth in my early 30's. He took care of it and it hasn't reared it's ungly head since.
Still will be hoping she heard wrong though. Please keep us posted.
