County Fair "Workout". (m)

Some days I just amaze myself! Today was one of those days. After Bob and I finished our Sunday morning ritual of laughing over the daily newspaper (some items meant to be serious tickle our funny bones for some reason), we put our disheveled heads together to decide what we wanted to do for the day. Decided to head off for the county fair and check out the exhibits. Now mind you, we've spent years avoiding the fairgrounds after getting the kids raised. But, somehow we actually realized (ok, probably Bob was the "realizer". I never realize anything without help.) that we could just hang out there without wondering which ride one or both of the kids might toss their twinkies on.

We had such a kewl time! We spent roughly 4 hours just walking around taking in the exhibits and making mental notes which ones we should actually enter next year ourselves. Are we getting old or what? Our fun level has definitely gone into a new (and somewhat lowered) stage. We look at displays of droopy, wilting flower arrangements and say "Hey, we can arrange droopy wilty flowers!" Garden produce? We can snatch stuff out of our garden and put on a paper plate to see if we can get a pretty ribbon pinned to them. While doing all this we were stuffing ourselves with the normal junk food that is a "must have" at any respectable county fair. When we blow a diet, we do it up good. However, we like to think all that walking had to burn off plenty of calories. Plus, dodging a cow pattie (that's a flat, round pile of manure to you city gals)here and there has to count as low impact aerobics....right?

Do we know how to have fun or what? So, what have the rest of you been doing today? This isn't a contest, but can anything beat out cotton candy at a fair? Hugs! Kay

Kay

I just don't think I can beat you at all. After reading the morning paper I came in here to the computer and check email and the board. Headed to the treadmill for a workout and then started the laundry and had lunch. Nothing too yummy and very low in calorie. Dh and I played in the pool for a hour got out had a couple of beers and got back in the pool for another half hour. There you have it my day. Pretty boring next to yours but no fair here this time of year much too hot. The fair is here in February. Opps and forgot did five loads of laundry today too. Fun Fun just cannot get too much of it. LOL

The fair sound like a great day. Dh and I have considered going but still haven't worked up the courage to attend a fair yet without our children. Maybe next Feb we will try it and we too can have fun.

Have a good Sunday evening

Love ya

Mary

((((((((((((((kay))))))))))))))!!hey i love the state fair, infact ms maggie and i went on opening day and had a great time, looking at the exhibits, eating corn dogs and french fries, cheese cake with strawberries and i even tasted a cow pie or two.thanks for telling me now that it was cow s*it!!LOL no wonder it tasted bad!! now what did i do today, well my dear,i went looking for mr.dicks friend, chippy the chipmunk, seems he hasnt been around in 2 days and i know that cat up the block must have something to do with it.or it could have been the coyote or red fox,or it could have been my brother bob who insists that all chipmunks need swimming lessons.now ask what i did yesterday.ok glad ya asked. ms maggie and i went out to her sons country home, where he has 3 horses, pygmy goats, dogs chickens geese, and whatever else that eats and poops, fed and watered them while he and the girls are on vacation.you should have seen ms maggie rolling out bales of hay,end over end and me pulling them with a string to get them to pasture.she took a fall in the horses*it,and cut her big toe,i told her the horsecrap was the best cure for wounds,or was that cowcrap.oh well either way crap is crap.after that we had to chase those d*mn chickens to get them back in the coop, while brother bob just sat and watched, just like pa kettle.it was 95 degrees out there, and i felt that my sister needed a cool down,so i took the hose we filled the horse trough with and let her have it!!!ROFLOL now arent you glad you asked what i done!!!good to see you kay!!say hey to mr.bob for me!!(((hugs)))mindy

Hi Kay and everyone! Spent the weekend at Islands of Adventure and Animal Kingdom in Orlando. As I was standing in line for the dueling dragons roller coaster hyperventilating, thought I would never see the light of day again! LOL But I made it! That thing was twisting and turning and going upside down. I haven't been on a ride like that in years! There is still some kid left in me! I had a great weekend! There are some really great rides at those parks! I want to go again soon! Have a great week everyone!

You beat me with just the mention of the word "pool" Mare. I'd have traded all four hours spend wandering around a fairground in 95 degree weather for 10 minutes in your pool! Hugs! Kay

Isn't it great there is at least one activity left where you can feel it's absolutely necessary to stuff yourself on junk food? I think the main purpose of a fair is to hit as many food vendors as possible in as quick a time as the stomach will allow. Right now I think I'm feeling a bit nauseous from my binge today. Hugs! Kay

OMG Mindy, I laughed so hard over the lastest "Adventures Of Mindy & Maggie". It would be grand entertainment just to follow behind the two of you at a fair, but on a farm with animals....well, that's a picture I can't get out of my mind! Poor Maggie! I think you use your poor dear sister for YOUR entertainment! LOL! I'm surprised she goes anywhere with you.

And yes, I'm glad you wrote about your fun. I think I'd had more fun with you two at the fair than with Bob. He didn't fall into horse s**t or any of that stuff. How boring is he? LOL! ((((hugs!))))) Kay

Is there no end to the humilation poor Maggie must suffer while you laugh? Bad Mindy! Ok, so I probably would have been laughing with you....very discreetly of course. She's going to have nightmares about goats and chickens (not to mention horse doo-doo) for the next 6 months! Tell her she has my complete sympathy....as soon as I can quit laughing of course. LOL!

You went on a roller coaster? On purpose? Di, you are truly nuts! I haven't been on one since I almost soiled my undies back when I was 20 something. Wow, you have my admiration.....even though I think you totally bonkers. Well, I'm glad you had a good time. By the way...I kept one eye out today for a cowboy that could possible be rich AND available. Mangy lot out there I must say. Nothing I would want to hook you up with. I'll keep searching though. Hugs! Kay
