NH was a relaxing week in the NH lake region, it even included a 2mi hike UP a mountatian, grueling but great views..we stayed right on the water...lovely, met a nice couple who took us out on their boat...
we were back one day when we had to leave for CT..dd had a job interview at a submarine comp., she was the only female interviewed that day!..the interview lasted from 8:30 am until after 2 pm!1..no word yet...but she still needs one more course anyway which she will take this Fall..
Bob's folks live in that same town and it was his dad's 81st birthday by chance, so we took him out to dinner...
that was July...we also had 2 weddings....one of those was an "overnight".Both weddings were daughters of friends and former students, grooms were also former students...
at one I met the sil of the brides father...she lives on Long Island, in Sayville...I said I dated a guy in college from Sayville...turned out to be her cousin! small world..
in Aug we went to SC, Fort Jackson, Bob's son graduated from Army Basic training..his ds is a "new man"...what a positive change in him!! and we got to spend some "quality time" with Bob's ex!!
in between trips and packing and unpacking..I am trying to clean house and get some order here..it's a losing battle...just before we left for SC, the 2 upstairs sinks decided to self-destruct...so dd and I went to Home Depot for new sinks and faucets and Bob installed them...but all the bathroom stuff was out in the hall...so all week I have been working on that...
on our trip home from SC a rock hit the windshield of my new car, cracking it..I am waiting right now for the repairman..The car is only a month old! (2003 Toyota Highlander SUV, 4WD,V6) I call it my "retirement-mobile"...ONE more year, ladies!!..actually 10 mos..June 2004!!
I have been teaching since 1971!
also our adorable new kittens have ruined the living carpet, so I had to order new...oh, well, the old one was 20 yrs old!!
I was able to get a lot of reading done this summer..I especially enjoyed "the DaVinci Code", "TO the Nines, Sue Grafton's P and Q and the new Sister fidelma and new Owen Archer mysteries!!
now that the bathroom is back in place, I must empty the livingroom!!
well, the guy is here now to fix my windshield...adios, see you later!!

You could never be a stranger here. Sounds like you had a very busy time traveling. I am sorry about your car but bet the repair man will have it fixed in no time. We had to have a rock chip fixed in out windshield two months ago and you can hardly tell were it was now.
Have a great day

yes, dd interviewed at Electric Boat.
I forgot to mention that all of the literature from Electric Boat mentions prominently the name of the builder of the first submarine: John P Holland !!..that happens to be the name of my grandfather, (and an uncle and a cousin...)but not the same guy!!

Funny how it goes when we meet people related or close friends to people you have known years ago... small world!
Hope to see you around when you are able to get a few spare moments!
