Did you all miss me? My day back at work on Monday was ok work wise, but we had some pretty wicked weather here in Wisconsin. When I got home from work Monday night I found that I had no cable and no internet. In addition, two of my tv's were fried. I called the cable company and they told me that they'd come out today and that I had to have someone available all day. They were suppose to call before coming out and I had two people lined up to come out to let them in. Nobody called all day and when I got home I had messages on my answering maching saying that the appointment is for tomorrow. When I turned on the one tv that I have left, it still was blue screened. I called the cable company and raised a little ruckus because I had been told that it would be today. It was all to no avail though and they still said that they'd be out tomorrow and that I'd again have to arrange to have someone home. Then I noticed that there was a cable truck next door by my neighbor and I ran out to see if he could check mine right away but, I was too late as he was already driving out the driveway. I went to the neighbor's house to see why the cable company was there and found out exactly what had happened. It seems that Monday morning about 9:30, lightening struck between his house and the neighbor on the other side of him. He lost two tv's, two computers, both phone lines, and two garage door openers. The next neighbor also lost a bunch of stuff. He said that there's a huge hole in the ground where it hit that exposed tree roots and a channel running to the nearest metal post. Their cable box out by the road was completely exploded. So, I guess I consider myself very fortunate to have gotten away as easily as I did. Then, when I came back home I fooled around with my one working tv and found that I really do have my service back and, as you can see, the internet is now working too. I guess when he fixed the neighbor's cable, it must have cleared up my trouble too. So, I'm now back on line and giving thanks. I'm also thankful that the tornados were much farther south of me and all I had to loose was two tv's that weren't very new anyway. That's the end of my long tale. I'm feeling much better now.

Good deal, Kaci! Now....don't call and cancel your appt. Let them come all the way out tomorrow only to find a note you've left on your door: "Oh, thanks, but seems everything's okay now. Hope you didn't waste your time!" and a smiley face.
Well, I know you're a nice person...but, that's what I'd do. Hee hee.

Wow Kaci I guess you should consider yourself very lucky. I agree with Red though I would not cancel the cable

That's very scary! I have a friend who's house burned down because of lightening, very frightening.
