Even WE had a tornado today...just about an hour ago. It touched down about a 1/2 mile from where I work, then headed northeast where I guess it dissipated. Didn't do a lot of damage, but some. Of course the traffic signals are out and there are trees, limbs and debris all over. But no lives lost reportedly and no one's roof was taken off. It hit mostly a commercial area and farmland. One witness said she saw shopping carts blowing around a parking lot. Yikes! There was of course, a lot of hail and big rain, what with the leaves all over the place the street drains are all plugged up.

Have blue skies now though! Weird!

Hi Red

Wow some pretty dangerous weather in your area. I am glad the tornado didn't seem to do a lot of damage and that no one was injured. I bet things are a mess in the area though.

Hope the sun continues to shine and that weird weather is gone.

Love ya

Well I guess I was premature...NOW they are saying that there were roofs lost...and big fir trees hitting homes and cars. One of the big one-stop-shopping centers got a gas line broken and leaking. One lady even said the wind sucked her charm bracelet right off her wrist....would YOU believe that? I dunno. Maybe. She was out battening down the dumpster hatch outside her store at the time.

Anyway, all is calm now.

Red, I believe the wind could do that. Tornadic winds have been known to drive a piece of straw through a 2x4, and drive 2x4s through solid concrete block walls. They can knock down one house but leave the neighboring house without a ruffle. Living in a tornado prone area, we hear about those types of things all the time.

I'm sorry there seems to have been damage. It can be devistating to loose a roof, not to mention a home or all of your belongings.

Hi Red

When I lived in the midwest we had what at first they thought was a tornado hit a half a block from our house. Lot of damage and roofs blown off homes. They said later it was a wind shear. We didn't realize there had been anything but a thunderstorm until a friend of ours called us an hour after it happenned to ask if we were ok.

Saw some of the damage on our late new cast tonight. So glad you are ok.

Love ya

Am feeling really badly about a group of kids and their coaches this morning. I had done a story on them when I was at the paper. They are Vancouver Lake Crew, a great bunch of kids who practice year round out on the lake in any kind of weather. The tornado flattened their site, took the trailers they meet in off the ground and decimated their storage sheds and all the shells (boats) that they row in practice and competition. These kids on this club go on to row in college and many in national competition, quite a feat for this little burg.

You can see the damage here.

P.S. I know many of you deal with tornados on a regular basis-- bless you --
