Talk about dedication!

This weekend when we were away we were out taking some pictures,  we went to this one area where there is a lagoon as we thought we might get some nice water photos.

Anyhow we are driving along and we see this  lady standing on the shore line and around her several different birds, about 6 or 7 swans some pin feather ducks and other kinds of birds as well.

We pull over to the side of the road and walk on down to get some pics, and then we started to talk to this woman.  She was telling us a bit about the birds and about herself.  I was so  blown away by her.

She is in her 80s I would think or late 70's, and she comes to feed the birds she told us.  I thought oh how nice, but noticed that it was not bread  or anything like that she had a bucket full of grains and stuff.. special bird feed. Anyhow  we talked for a long time, and once she felt a bit comfortable with us she started to tell us about these birds.  She was saying that  there is a few people concerned about them as a few have been rather ill, so they got a  naturopathic doctor (or  something like that she said.. she wasn't sure of the doctors title) and they did some testing of the feathers, she tells us that these birds are suffering from aluminum poisoning, they do not have the testing for lead poisoning  but she assumes that is a problem as well.  She feels it is from the trash that has been dumped in the ocean over the years.  A

Anyhow  she was telling us about each of the swans, when they came first to be fed and stuff... she knows each of them and which  new ones belong to who... they are just like her family to her.  Then she told me that she has been feeding these birds or their families for 19 years now.  She  says she comes every single day and spends about 4 hours every day feeding these birds, she goes through over 2 bags of feed every day.

I found that to be so endearing to my heart that someone cares that much.  Anyhow another thing that touched my heart is her husband waits in the car while she feels these birds  for 4 hours.  What a wonderful couple.

There should be more like them in this world. To me they are such wonderful people!

I had such a great time this weekend but to me that stuck out the most as a memory of how it went.

Oh I won in the casino... now don't laugh but I came out with about 60 ahead... for me that is like hitting the jackpot.  lol

Well that is about it for now... got dishes to do, so best get at it!

Hi Lor

What a special woman you met there at the lagoon. Sounds like you really enjoyed this visit with her and learn a lot as well. I agree anyone who spends 4 hours feeding the wild birds is special. He husband must have a lot of patience to wait for her in the car.

Wow Lor you did really well at the casino this time. He cannot say I ever won that much.

Love ya
