When Will It Stop?

The snow just doesn't stop this year.  It snowed all day today and by the time I got home from work we had at least four inches on the ground.  Fortunately it's the light fluffy, feathery kind.  Unfortunately it's made the roads extremely slippery and there are accidents all over the place.

Around 7 o'clock I decided that I should go out and try to clear at least one path from the garage to the road even though it was still snowing.  At that point there was about six inches of new snow already.  My snowblower is such a big old thing that it really takes a lot of umpf for me to try to manhandle it.  Well, I got one path from the house to the road when a car stopped in front of my house with the blinker on.  I moved over to the side of the drive and my ds & d-i-l drove in.  He took over and cleared the entire drive, the turnaround, and a couple of swaths wider than the actual driveway.  And the snow just kept coming down.  By the time he was done, the first part had another inch of snow on it already.  By now there's a couple of inches on the drive again.  It's coming down so heavy that the road looks like it hasn't been plowed at all and I saw one go through after I got home from work.  I just heard on tv that there is a three county area that is expected to get from 9 to 12 inches total. Guess who is in one of those counties.  Right.  I'm right in the middle.   I'd guess that we have 8 to 10 inches already.  They're saying that it's suppose to snow until about 6 o'clock in the morning and then it's going to get windy.  This stuff is so light and fluffy that it's going to drift into huge piles.  This is really a snowy winter this year.

The photos below are from a snowfall a couple of days after Christmas.

Dang Kaci some people have all the luck! Our normal yearly snowfall averages around 20" but this year we've only had 2.6"...very depressing. Every time it snow it ends as rain and washes it away!

Friday I had to hurry and scoop some snow into containers so the kids could play with it.

Maybe I could shovel a load of snow onto my pickup truck and drive it over for your kids.
