Where is the "EXHAUSTED" icon??? He's fine, if grumpy. Imagine that! Nicotine, liquid, and food deprived and coming out of major surgery. He was apologizing for being grumpy which was kind of uniquely "funny," if you can call it that.
Anyway, the surgery went well. The surgeon was great. He was actually human. Weird, eh? (Okay, I was in Canada all day, so give me a break on the "eh's." ;) ) All the other surgeons that were coming to talk to family members were calling the last name of the patient and calling the family outside the waiting room to talk to them which meant they were standing in the middle of the cafeteria. YIKES! His surgeon, however, came all the way in the room, came straight back to me after remembering meeting me pre-op, and told me how things went, etc.
He did lose some blood and had to have a transfusion. They were able to reattach both nerves, but his prostate was "very enlarged," which, in medical-eze always means the sucker was HUGE (kind of like his "very large" hernia which was the size of one of those small basketballs!). With it being that enlarged, it often means that the reattachment will not resolve any future E.D. problems even with medication. That being said, they will put an implant in later if need be. That's a ways down the path as of yet, obviously. I think that he and others feel the necessity to impress that issue on me because I'm so much younger than he is. >eye roll< That's all aside from the real issue here which is not our age difference. (It's 17 years for anyone who's interested.) Anyway, other than those two things, it went well.
OTOH, I HAD to come home to sleep tonight. Although they have a quiet room with a couch you can sleep on, I would not have slept much or slept well. Since I ended up with only four hours of sleep last night as compared to the 8-9 it takes to sleep off my meds, I NEED sleep. I told him that they have my phone number, but I really needed to sleep until I was done sleeping tonight. He was fine with that (even though he was really kind of unhappy about it, which I could tell). He's not going to know much of anything until tomorrow anyway. He's on IV pain meds for 24 hours, then to injections instead of the pump that they had told him he would have. Oh, well. They were going to let him drink soon after I left.
So, now, I am off to bed. Thank you all for your caring, concern, support, and just general putting up with me ;) over the last while. I can't tell you what that has meant to me.
Goodnight! See you in a couple of days. :)

Steph, you have had a hard go now and you do need your sleep.
<
Hi Steph
Hope you are getting that much needed sleep. Those
(((((((Steph)))))))) I'm sorry I haven't been here lately to lend support....my home 'puter is about to bite the dust, and it's hard for me to find time here at work to "play."
Anyway, I have been keeping up what's going on here. I feel for ya....and want you to know I'm thinking of you.
I'm glad you decided to go home and sleep in your own bed. There's no place like your own bed, especially a couch. You'll function much better, be in a better mood and frame of mind, and be better support to DH if you are fully rested.
Keep posting and letting us know how you are.
Hugs,
Red
