For a retired person, I am pretty darn busy!
Last Fri I finished my "consulting job": since Nov I have been mentoring a new Spanish teacher..I was sorry to see it end..it was rewarding on so many levels. He appreciated me and the kids appreciate him.
Imagine this: on my last day, we announced it to the classes. They were sorry to see me go. One class wanted to get up a petition to keep me! After one 8th grade class, a boy came up to shake my hand and thank me! Same thing happened in the HS!
this weekend we went to PA to see Bob's new dgd and his son before he returned to Iraq
(no matter how you feel about the war/politics..PLEASE support the measure to limit deployments to 12 mo,not 15 mo..it is so hard on the individual and their family. his ds has a great attitude..but cannot come home til Dec, he left last Sept ..this was just a leave to be here for the birth)
I also have a course going 5 Wednesdays: "Spanish for Educators" 30 people signed up..4 more joined, inc the school supt! Today's class had to be postponed: all schools closed due to icy roads (in April we will run another one of these courses plus a 2 hr "SPanish for nurses"
Mon I went back to sub at my old school..nice to see my old buddies
my dd had a sudden change in her teaching assignments: due to the illness of a more senior teacher, instead of algebra she must teach pre calc and AP calculus! the principal thanked her, told the supt and will put a letter in her personnel file on how she "stepped up to the plate"
we are awaiting the arrival of my first dgs..due 2/20.....could come anytime!
about once a week we have the dgds over for some fun
AND I am adjusting to the new place...after 32 yrs in the other..it is a challenge! Unpacked 2 -3 boxes of books today
also within the week Bob's mother must be moved to assisted living...I may go with him to CT for that
so..that's it I think
hope this finds you well

Hi Dutch
You are one busy woman that is for sure. Always nice to know that the students you teach really enjoy the work you do to help them learn.
Keeping my fingers crossed for your Dil for the safe delivery of your first dgs.
Well adjusting to the new house is I am sure quite a challenge. Change is the hardest thing to accept sometimes. However change is good it means we are willing to take on new challenges and make our lives more interesting.
Love ya
Aloha,
Lei

Wow you are right you have been busy for a retired lady... heck you are busier than most that I know that have not retired.
I bet you are a little sad to see your time up on that mentoring job... but maybe another will come along for you yet.
thanks for all your positive input!
dd felt, since she was new and non tenured, she could not refuse the change of courses!
luckily she has friends she can call if she herself does not have the answer
Bob's mother move went better than expected..so far so good..she likes it so far..she is hard to please
thanks for your prayers
as ever
