Dell was having a sale and my puter was 2 years old so I treated myself. I now have a 20" flat screen monitor which is so nice. JT came in, saw it, fell in love then said if its missing don't look for it:)

Happy belated birthdays to Lor, Mare and Cappy. Sorry I missed them and hope your special was great!

Winter so far has been dismal and rainy. I think Seattle and Philly switched map positions. It snowed enough to cover lawns and cars so I ran out and scooped some up for the kids and had an indoor snowball fight. They want to build a snowman so badly.

Tuesday I had a date with the IRS for an audit. It seems they feel my food bill is way too high for a daycare. You should hav seen the aditors face when I told her my kids get London Broil, organic veggies & fruits, soy and almond milk. She said...I don't eat that well! And is this my problem? Her suggestions were to charge the parents $300 weekly, have them pack their kid's lunches or scale back my menu since no daycare provides food like this. When I asked if I should start serving hot dogs and PB&J I was told...other daycares do it. Sorry, not here! Proper nutrition is  most important for maintaining health and learning ability. I told her I'd scale back as best I can. In the end she discounted 3/4 of my food bill so I had to pay a little over a grand. Mac nearly died when he heard. You'd think it came out of his pocket:)

Two weeks ago my face swelled up and I thought I had an abcessed tooth. I started taking a homeopathic remedy and by the time I got to the dentist things were much improved. Since I had a sinus and ear infection the dentist put me on anti-Bs for a week. Four days into drug therapy I awoke with stabbing pain in my ears and no voice! After a dose of calc carb my ears improved and my voice came back. I also took Astragalus, twice daily instead of 4x, but I am finally pain and infection free. It was not an abcessed tooth but and infected gum from my sinuses. Now I'm back to normal...whatever that is for me. Wishing you all good health and a happy weekend.

HI Bernie

Wow your kids do eat well. You are doing a great job for them and I agree over processed foods are not good for children but do you really think they appreciate the London broil??

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It was a nice birthday and I took my Mom's diamond ring and had it put in a new setting so I can wear it everyday now. Turned out really pretty and it was a nice birthday present from me to me. LOL

Glad you got rid of that infection and you are feeling better. Congrats on the new computer as well. Now maybe you will be able to stop in more often. I got a 20 inch flat screen from dh for Christmas I just love it.

Hey Bernie,

My dh, an accountant, says you should appeal because you CAN win an appeal. It isn't the tax department's business how well you feed your daycare kids. He said that you should be able to find a pro bono attorney from an organization that works towards better nutrition for kids. It isn't the tax department's business to decide how much profit you make or not. Their only business is if it is a legit business expense which your food costs are. He says it's like a beauty salon using a high quality shampoo rather than Suave shampoo or him using a $30 accounting program rather than Quick Books. He also says that you should get your local representatives, both state and federal reps, on this. He says you should also write a letter to the governor. He says that you should immediately get the media involved. To tell you how strongly he is feeling about this, he's up out of his chair, raising his voice, and all but pounding the table even with how he is feeling after his surgery. His last comment was which one of the food groups is grease. He says if he was an attorney, he would take this on immediately. He is UP IN ARMS!! If you get enough people up in arms, you will have strength in numbers. Don't be afraid to take on the IRS.

Okay, now that I've passed on 1/4 of what he said since the rest is not appropriate to write, I have to say that I agree with him 100%.

That is so awesome about your new computer!! It's always fun to get a new one. :) ENJOY!

Bern, nice to see you here. I myself am trying
to catch up with posting; January just flew by!

How fun that you got a new computer. We sort of
have a new ones...dh rebuilt six computers last
week with new updated drives and operating systems;
this one I am on now has XP and Vista but I am
hooked on the XP for now.
We are keeping some and giving the kids the others.

Taxes...I agree that it was none of their business
to tell you how to feed the kids. Hmmmmm!!!

Hugs,

Mare let me tell you how much the kids enjoyed the London Broil. I made two, one for daycare and the other for me. They ate them both! I had left over pasta for dinner:)
