Stop Snowing Sunday!

I can't believe it's snowing again. The gods above were kind enough to give us about 2' of snow this past week. We spent most of yesterday shoveling our 100' deck and sidewalks. We thought we'd start out fresh this morning and rake the roof. Yes, for those of you who do not know of this northern New England sport, it is played only after a very large amount of snow has fallen and you have finally cleaned your deck off. And in turn, this gets you to be lucky enough to shovel the deck off again! I often ask myself what it is I like about this place, mostly in the winter months. What makes me stay? The frogs trilling in the early spring from the pond, the robins sitting in the snow in April chirping to the sun, the deer grazing in the front pasture, an occasional fox loping through and of course my hummingbirds who come to their summer home in May and stay until early September. Yes, that's what keeps me going out and shoveling and raking. So, for all of you poor people who are relaxing this Sunday, you're invited up here for a roof raking party! Shoeless (but my snowshoes are nearby!)

Well I think I will pass on your roof shoveling party thanks. I used to live in the midwest and remember a few times when getting the snow off the roof was something we had to do. I now prefer to stay where the weather is warmer in the winter and snow is something we can see if we want to travel to the northern part of AZ.
