Ya gotta pace yourself! you know? LOL
THis morning is sort of a forced respite: snow and ice will keep us at home. Schools closed yesterday at noon..and are closed today...he went out to clear the driveway..what a mess! thick slush..flood watch in effect
Yesterday I had a bit of oral surgery..just one stitch worth..so I was feeling a little beat..it will be fine..but reason enough to rest
I subbed Mon: Spanish this time...and, funny thing, the sub plans the teacher left were the ones I showed him last week!... and after school had a friend over for tea and Irish scones I'd made..she wanted to see the house and I had her birthday gifts
Sunday we had dil's parents for brunch and dd for dinner..both very nice (for brunch I made sourdough pancakes with beer! from a mix my friend in the last paragraph brought us last fall from her trip out west)
Saturday I got a call from dgd,3, "Grandma, I want to lib with you" LOL. We compromised on a visit for the afternoon..fun...dropped her off on our way to dinner..but her other grandma told me Sun she kept telling them at dinner she was going to live here!
Dinner was with the young man I mentored and his parents..a lovely evening...they are nice folks..the dad was leaving Sun for Mexico..they have a house there...and my young friend picked up the entire tab! I expected we'd at least pay for SO..but no!
well, it looks like the bad weather has cancelled my "Spanish for Educators" class for today..we will tack another day on at the end I guess
so, as if a trip to the dentist was not enough torture, I think I should work on my taxes today
tomorrow is both Valentine's and SO's birthday..this weekend his dd,sil and dgs are coming
Hope this finds you all mostly well...changes day to day...doesn't it? births and deaths, illnesses, etc
hugs

Hi Dutch
Seems old man winter is going to hang around a while for you there. Hope that soon it will begin to warm up for you.
Well a bit of oral surgery that requires a stitch would not be fun that is for sure. I bet it smarts a bit.
Happy Birthday to your SO for tomorrow.
Hope today is a good one for you.
Love

Dutch, I thought you retired from teaching? Then agian so did I. Please tell me why we are both still teaching? For me I suffered from lack of seeing that light bulb going off in kid's eyes. You know the look I mean. That look means everything to me.
Glad you enjoyed your dinner treat but hope your weather improves very soon. Ice is the worst and we just had some. Luckily it was an overnight deal but enough to have my area make the news. I live in the hillest area of Philly, and I mean hilly. Outsiders consider us mountainous. Many drivers decided to abandon their cars in the middle of the streets rather than slide down them complicating morning rush hour. I did notice today the tree buds are very developed and my Easter flowers are poking their drowsey heads through the soil. This spate of bad weahter is short lived and Spring will soon be here...then again I live further south than you. Hoping Spring finds you soon.
Thanks Mare!
we had a nice day....saw my ds and family, had dgd,3, over...then went out to dinner
Taking ibuprofen seems enough to take care of ache in jaw
winter won't last forever....but more snow is on the way...so it will seem like forever! LOL
hugs

Retired? HA!
Funny you should mention the light bulb going off ..that is EXACTLY why I love teaching and when I heard the young man,22, I was mentoring tell a kid that was HIS reason for teaching..well I knew he had it! , he was "one of us"!
I tell people "I still like teaching..just not everyday" LOL..so between mentoring , subbing and doing my "Spanish for Educators" (5 Wednesday,4-6)...I get my wish and a little extra , needed $$$$
I know your area....not unlike here...but you are WAY ahead of us in weather..Spring comes here shortly before June!
hugs
