The kids have been making the best of a bad situation and worked hard on their Valentines and had their party today. You are not going to belive this...I didn't. The party was set and all plates filled with cupcakes, cookies and candy donated by the parents. Even Mac had a plate. The kids picked at their plates hardly eating anything. In fact Jay threw his cupcake and cookies at me!
Amazingly everything changed when I brought out a bag of grapes. Mac was amazed to hear them all screaming GRAPES! A huge bag of grapes dwindled to almost nothing while the junk went untouched...except for Mac's plate which he cleaned but declined the grapes. All the junk the parents sent in went home in goodie bags.
Before the junk we played Valentine Bingo. I made cards with shapes and Valentine words and since our bingo chips were at the daycare used Cheerios as chips which was a huge hit! We played Spin the Bottle, my version, which was heart cut outs labeled with numbers and when the bottle landed on the number they had to name the number. Then we palyed a Valentine match game. I made duplicates of numbered hearts and we matched them. Yeah! I finally won a game!
My infant/toddlers are so into picture books and labeling which increases vocabulary and I was hoping Janet would interest them in that while I was teaching. Unfortunately that was not the case and I had to stop because I could not stand hearing her say...don't touch, stop that and get over here, one more time! By the end of today I developed a fever blister which I have not had in years! Mac asked if I had eaten at a dirty place. I informed him that stress can cause an outbreak and having a car crash through your living room wall, having to get 7 kids used to a new environment and dealing with Janet might be considered enough stress to cause an outbreak. He shut up. Since the weather was not fridged I decided to spend the night at the daycare for some peace...amazingly the fever blister is almost gone and in only a few short hours! Pray repairs happen quickly!
If all else fails laugh. Its good for the soul and after being Janet's partner at Cranium Sunday I just had to shake my head and laugh. All I will say is we won not one game and JT fel so sorry for her he gave her hints. She was given a card with the storm of Jupiter shown on it.
Now most people, while not knowing exactly what it was, would say Jupiter since its the most commonly shown pic of the planet. Janet was clueless and after many attempts to help her JT grew impatient with her and said..it rhymes with Upiter...still nothing. He grew so impatient he gave her the answer. Now we call her Upiter. Before starting the second game JT's gf Kelsey, feeling my pain, suggested she and I pair up until Jt said... two college people against me and Upiter...no way!
For Valentine's Day Mac got me a dozen of long stem red roses, which Janet told me about before I got them...tx Jan, plus a heart shaped pendant with rubies...I was stunned! Her did good:)
Wishing you all a happy Valentine's Day and remember to keep smiling. I've found when all else fails laughter is the best remedy.

HI Bernie
Good for the kids wanting the grapes instead of the junk. My Dd's little guy really loves fruit too. He loves chocolate though.
I am keeping postive thoughts going you way my friend that they can get your daycare house finxe quickly.
Janet sounds like she would drive a sane person over the edge. No wonder you wanted to stay in the daycare house and get some piece and quiet.
Laughter is indeed the best medicine. It helps take away the stress that we all have everyday. Keep laughing my friend. Soon this will all be a bad memory.
Love ya
