I can post this now that I have calmed...

as many of you know..my dgs was born last week and we had the dgds for 4 days...we brought them to the hospital Sat to meet their brother..it was great and special...they were so cute...I got lots of great photos

as we were leaving for the hospital, I realized I hadn't spent much time with my hair  but I thought "Who will care about my hair with all this going on?"

Now I know....I sent the photo show to many friends, inc an old one from waaay back...from my hometown..in college we worked together summers...haven't seen her in at least 20 yrs...she lives in Alaska....but at Xmas she put a letter in her card and her email and expressed a desire to be more in touch.

I thought..perfect opportunity..send her these photos of me and my family

in her reply she wrote:

Barbara, you must get a new style to your hair.  No offense, but your doo is 40 years old.  I bet if you got a shorter style the kids in the HS would not recognize  you when you subbed!  Especially in the granny reading glasses, it is like 1969 all over again!  Let go!!!!

I was shocked! First of all: I like my hair the way it is, I do not want it shorter and I had just been to my hairdresser on Thurs..she keeps me current!

and why would I want the HS kids not to recognize me? they love me just the way I am!

And as for the glasses: I emailed back that they were not "granny glasses" but rather "fashion frames" that even the younger folks wear...and perhaps they don't have them in Alsaka

she emailed back that she hoped she hadn't offended me! ha...I said when someone says :no offense" usually one follows! and that ,yes, I was offended

I didn't say "wow looked like you gained a lot of weight" when I saw her Xmas photo,,LOL

I did tell her I didn't need negativity in my life, I prefer my friends accepting and supportive!

But this does not make me inclined to keep in touch!

ok..now I have vented..thanks for listening...I am letting it go

anyway I went today to hold dgs...he is already 6 days old! they grow up so fast! LOL

and  THAT is the important stuff!!

we had 10 days of friends and visitors and dgds....very good

hugs

as a matter of fact..yes...she sent a photo at Xmas..and I just made a mental note..she looked much the same to me...except heavier...well...that happens...and I never said anything about it..if she wants to lose weight..that is her choice

just as my hair is my choice..if I look in the mirror and I am satisfied..well,that's enough!

and I just realized...I said she looked the same...her hair..I don't think she changed it....hmmm

well, I

Dutch, she was way out of line, insulting and rude. You look perfectly current and maybe she's the one

Ahhh Dutch.....I am always amazed and shocked at the unmitigated gaul of some people....especially friends.....How you could ever say something like that to a friend is more than I will ever understand...I know people like that....and they are no longer 'friends' of mine....That is just rude and uncalled for....Yes it hurts....and you are wise to step wayyyyyyyyyyyyy back from that piece of work.....NO ONE needs that kind of friend in their lives!!!

I like you just the way you are girlfriend. Let's assume your Alaskan friend was having a case of hormonal cabin fever or maybe her brain just froze? lol Sorry but I don't think even my rude sister would have told me that. And yes, my glasses do remind me of what I wore in the 60s but those had a green tint and I had to really look to
