Almost St Paddy's Day...

So I thought it was about time we got ready! LOL

It's less than 2 weeks away with Easter close behind!

Who better than someone named "Dutch" to update you on things Irish??

I picked 3 photos to use this month, all places we visited in Ireland in '99:

1. the dramatic Cliffs of Moher on the west coast..not far from the birthplace of John Holland, inventor of the submarine

2. Blarney Castle, Co.Cork..where my father's family was from. And I did kiss the Blarney Stone while there! (quite a feat: you must hang upside down to do it, this was 4 mo before my shoulder surgery, I was in pain , but, by God , I was not letting that stop me, I'd come so far!)

3. Muckross House..part of the Tour around the "Ring of Kerry" we rode in on one of those carts pulled by a horse...so Bob asked the driver "What's your horse's name?" And with his thick Irish accent said "Me horse is named BOB!!" LOL

You may know (because I may have mentioned it before) my dad played the bagpipes and marched in the famous St Patrick's Day parade in NYC. (he also used to practice when he came to visit to our delight and our friends..and the bagpipe music seemed to enthrall our steers!)

and last but not least..don't forget your Irish soda bread..

and if you need me to post my famous recipe again..let me  know!!

We have an Irish blessing hanging up, the last 2x she was here dgd,3, asked me to read it..it ends with..

May God hold you in the palm of his hand..

Dutch,

In our church, we occasionally sing that Irish Blessing as a benediction.
