Yesterday before chat time my dh ask me if I wanted to go out to the desert and take his ATV, have a picnic for lunch and take some pictures of the pretty spring desert wild flowers. I said sure sounds like fun. While I was at chat he got everything ready except for our lunch which we stopped by the local deli for sandwiches. We had some apples and plenty of water so off we went. It is probably only about three miles to the desert from our house. We parked the truck got the ATV off the trailer and off we went to find a nice spot for the picnic. When we found a spot we liked there were lots of Mexican poppies and a flurry of color in blue, lavender, pink. The poppies are bright yellow with a dark orange in the center. Ok dug in the bag and no camera. We had left it at home on the counter!!! Darn!! We did have a good time though and spent about four hours out there enjoying the very pretty day with temps in the low 80's. Since it was a weekday we had the area mostly to ourselves with an occasional lizard running by. We did see a guy on a bike and another jeep parked up near the mountain where someone was probably on a hike. Sure wish we had remembered the camera. Dh will go back on on Monday as he always does and I am going to make sure he takes the camera with him so he can get some pictures of the flowers so I can share them with you all here.
Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

Mare,
When you DO get pictures, I would love to see them.
I have written a large note and taped it to the fridge so he will not forget the camera on Monday.
Spring will head you way my friend right now though I am sure it feels like it will be years away!!
Love ya
HI Sooze
A different picture for sure. There was mountains but they are rock and no trees on them but this time of year covered with green and the wildflowers in yellow. Cactus standing guard with their arms reaching for the sky. No water around anywhere except what we brought with us. The ground is covered with sand and rock and scrub bushes that are now green but will soon looks like dead sticks when the summer heat hits us. The desert is green with patches of grass all around.
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!That looks beautiful in my minds eye.
Thanks for the vivid flower show.
Mary, What a delightful day you and your hubby had!

Hi Rj
The desert is really pretty when it is in bloom. The catcus have not bloomed yet they will do that in May but the wild flowers were beautiful.
