I've been reading posts trying to catch up with your news. See that you are all as busy as usual! Same here - for the most part. I'm still doing a lot of volunteer work - for three organizations. Keeps me off the streets. Most of my time lately has been taken up in writing grant proosals for the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity. I have a bunch of them "out there" now. It takes a loooong time for them to respond. Money is so tight these days, so we just keep our fingers crossed. One of my proposals was funded before Christmas which was very nice.
Spring has definitely arrived in our part of CA. We've got daffodils and hyacinth in abundance, including little patches here and there of the very dark blue Muscari - a kind of miniature hyacinth. The tulips are growing and buds forming, so it won't be long before I have those blooms too. And, the star magnolia is in full bloom. The other magnolia is covered with buds t oo. The garlic and onions are up and growing. The sugar snap peas are getting started too. I love this time of year! Dh has been transplanting roses we needed to move and then we bought 4 more - which he has also planted. All are leafing out. I'm trying to do some spring clean-up - weeding, pruning and raking. I only get a little bit done at a time, which is a bit frustrating. In my head, I know all the things I want to do out there, but when I get out there to do the work, I'm fairly limited. Oh well, at least I can still get out to get some things done. For that I am very grateful.
I've been taking - by daily self-injections - one of the disease modifying drugs for MS for 10 months now. They do not provide any symptomatic relief, but their main value is in keeping the disease from attacking. However, I've been having an increasing amount of problems lately, esp. with balance and walking. In the last couple of days, I pretty much think I'm having an attack - despite all the injections. So, we'll be heading for San Francisco tomorrow to see my neuro at UCSF on Mon a.m. I'll see if she thinks the same as I. After 31 years with this thing, I generally know when I'm having one. If so, she'll prob prescribe the steroid infusions which have helped me in the past, though I have to deal with a few "interesting" side effects.
Anyway, I'll try to post when I find out for sure. Hope everyone has a Happy St Patrick's Day. I see Dutch posted her Irish Soda Bread recipe. (Thanks Dutch!). Janet

Sorry to hear you are going through another "bout" with the MS..I had a cousin who had the same thing..she too always knew when that nasty thing would, as she said, "raise it's ugly head". Hope your doctor can help you....will keep you in my prayers.
Sounds like you keep pretty darn busy though..I sure wish I had your GREEN thumb!
Sure hope you come here more often..have missed you.

So good to read what you're up to Janet. So sorry about you latest challenges with MS. Prayers and positive thoughts for a good doctor's visit tomorrow.
We don't have as many things blooming as you to the south of us but a few things are peeking thru. Daffodils, of course, and the lilacs are budding. My camellias are late this year but looking good.
Yesterday we had three seasons in one day, not unusual for this time of year. We had a little sunshine, a little wind, a little snow and a little hail...recycled throughout the day. Keeps things interesting but not so good for those pretties that have bloomed.
Got to run and get ready for church. Take care sweet lady. Many hugs.

Hi Janet
So good to see you here posting. I will keep my fingers crossed for those grants you have pending out there. Hope you are able to get them.
Sorry to hear you are having some problems again with your MS. Hope your Dr can give you something to help you. The flowers are in full bloom here in AZ. We have a bit of a cold front moving through us today. We have a very slight chance of rain which I doubt we will bet more sun than clouds so far today.
Do come back soon and let us know how it goes with your Dr.
Love ya
Good to see you here Janet!

Hi Cindy!
So glad to see your post. I think of you and hope you're doing well over there in my favorite State!
I have seen the dr and she prescribed the steroid infusions which have helped me in the past. Had my first (of 3) today. So, keep your finger's crossed that they do some magic for me this time!
Take care. Hugs, Janet
