I think I mentioned in another thread that DD#1 got married in Vegas this past Monday . Frank & I had planned months ago when they became engaged and said they were going to do the Vegas thing that we would throw a reception several weeks after they returned.
Well, I sent out invitations a month ago asking for an RSVP either by email or voicemail, and e-address and ph# were provided. Guess how many RSVPs out of 75 I have received. 5. That's all -- 5.
After talking to women at work about this, I was surprised to learn that RSVPs simply aren't done anymore, and that the NW seems to be the worst culprit for this. The rule of thumb, it seems, is that if you don't hear from them, they'll attend. Huh?
Most of the invitees are late-20s/early to mid-30-somethings who are co-workers and friends of the couple. Neither of them have too many family members.
So, Frank and I are forging ahead planning on food, cake and beverages for 75 people for next Sunday the 13th. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Well I always RSVP....I think it is rude not too!
Hi Red
I always RSVP but seem the younger
Agree, more mature people do RSVP. Younger ones, not so much.
Hope you have a lovely turn out.
This one is near the top of my list of pet peeves, Red.

Truth be known, we could both be old gray Kays! LOL!
Thanks for the gnashing in absentia. At least someone has my back!
Yeah, you know, now "the kids" aren't even emailing anymore from what I'm hearing. They've replaced it by texting! Now I know I'm really old; my cell phone doesn't even have that feature, and anyway my thumbs are too arthritic to text!
No fun, girl!
So good to see you here!

I agree with all who think this is VERY inconsiderate!..especially when you need to know #'s for plnning how much food
if you didn't RSVP I would think you WEREN'T coming!...
can you imagine: no RSVP..they show up and you say.."sorry..you can't come in! " LOL
well, good luck with it all!

Hello,
Your post really caught my eye. It's amazing to realize how many well-educated people don't even know what an RSVP is! I work with companies and executives who have never been taught the courtesy and value of a proper RSVP. There seems to be a missing generation... where an entire generation was skipped in being taught the value courtesy and etiquette. On a bright note, most people, once they are enlightened actually enjoy good manners. There is civility left in the world, it just has to dug out, like hidden treasure.
Sorry you didn't get the proper response...
