OK..this is a VENT:

we dropped the car off at the dealers and went on our way to shopping then dinner with friends

got a call in the afternoon from the service dept:

my car needed "sensors"..check engine light and VSC lights were on...the cost?

$756.50...$580 of which was parts

there was NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR!..except for the sensors to tell you WHEN THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WIH THE CAR

and it had to be done or it won't pass inspection!

let me tell you: it tempered the rest of my shopping!!

I did pick up some fun dino things for the party however....

well, now we know where my tax rebate is going!

Ouch Dutch!! That is the trouble with all the electronics they put in cars now days. Things can go wrong with the darn sensors and if you don't have them replaced then you cannot pass an inspection.

Those sensors are great but to replace them does cost a fortune. ours needs a new one as well but we dont have a testing station so we wont bother changing it.

Sorry about the cost!

Yikes, Dutch, that's expensive! I get the check engine light occasionally. I checked my car book and found that if the gas cap isn't on tight, if there's any moisture in the electrical wiring system or there's "bad gas" in the tank, the light will go on. I used to get the light regularly, then kept track and found it was only when I got gas at a particular station. Once I stopped going there, I only get the light if there's moisture in the wiring because of rain or snow.

I sure hope my sensor never has to be replaced!
