I just scheduled all of my neccesary appointments, since my birthday month is here.  Bone density tomorrow, mammogram friday and the gynocologist for my PAP and check-up next wednesday....I am such a good girl....LOL.  YES...I was able to get appointments that soon, pretty cool huh?   So, are you all good about your yearly check-ups?

Funny you should ask, Gabs! I am normally very bad about my yearly check-ups. BUT I just had my Pap last week, having my mammo on Monday and have scheduled the ol' Colon Blow in June . So. . . as much as I hate to say it, I am a good girl...this year.

I would rather get 100 Paps than have a mammogram. Last time I had one I left in tears. The right tech makes all the difference. This one had me standing on my tiptoes, leaning, not breathing, and still she wasn't happy. I truly thought she was going to tear it off!

It really made me not want to have another. And I'm no wuss! I have quite a high threshold for pain. That time I actually felt abused. Techs like her should be fired.

Anyway, I told this place about that experience when I made my appt. for this time. She told me they even have padded plates now, to try and make it more comfortable. That's reassuring. I remember going to this place a long time ago for a mammo. They gave you a single red rose afterwards! So I am hopeful.

I always thought the one I read about sometime ago was a good idea. Where they have you lie down on your stomach

Hi Gabby

I have an appt in June to see my Dr for a check up and have to wait until then to schedule those lovely appts for all the rest. So I have a few more months before I have to do all those things. Used to do it in Nov but seem like such a tough time of year to get things done with all the holidays. So last year switched until June and that made it all so much easier. We also changed Drs in Nov. of last year so did a "get to know you" visit with him and shceduled the physical for June.

Great that you could schedule all those things so quickly though. What a good girl you are!!

I got my mammogram done last October, so I'm fine for a while yet with that. I just got my Pap done last month. My GYN will be seeing a lot of me in the future. I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. My GP did a thyroid test and said that it was on the high end of normal, so it didn't warrant me going on medication. Because of my gender (female) and age (47) he said that I was headed into perimenopause, even though I knew it was my thyroid (honestly, after having this body for almost 50 years now, I think I know when something's wrong by now). So he sent me to my GYN. My GYN listened to me and said that even though my test results were borderline, that all my symptoms pointed towards hypothyroidism (I was exhausted, had gained weight, my hair was thinning, my periods were out of whack, my skin was dry, etc). So now I'm on thyroid medication. I go back to him at the end of May to be retested.
