I'm still here just putzing along at my usual pace...
Again trying to get ahead a bit as am heading out to do G'ma duty for a long weekend while D32 begins her turn as a race administrator w/hubby. They have 8 big weekends scheduled for the year split between us grandparents - the Vegas & Primm (used to be Stateline) weekends the kids go to G'parents in Las Vegas - but I get this one, June, August, & December at their house. Then I have 3rd test & final for my Calc. II the 1st two Monday nites in May.
Just got a call from the jr hi to fish whether I'd be interested in a hypothetical long term 7th gr sub spot for the rest of the school year beginning May 1st (jr hi out here 3rd week of May). Seeing as I'm within the last couple wks of finishing this Calculus class, I explained after the final on the 12th no problem - but won't commit to a f/t spot at this point... I just this month put together why I'm probably a bit burnt out - just didn't really hit home that over this past year I've finished up 17 units - mostly math...
Have yet to use my Xmas gift of a couple massages & pedicures - but my Navajo Dye chart I've wanted since our trip around 4 corners area 7 yrs ago arrives today!!! Don't know what I'm waiting for - maybe after this weekend w/little people exhausts me I could use some pampering!!! Told myself I'd use them after my big AEPA secondary math exam a couple weekends ago - but I'd talked myself into feeling so totally unprepared that I didn't go in feeling stressed about passing the thing at all - & it turned out to be not as bad as I expected. Still don't know that I passed, but it wouldn't be impossible - & it sure would be nice to be done with it & not have to face it again. Will find out in a couple more weeks.
In the meantime, DH & I celebrated our 23rd anniversary last weekend w/a whole weekend of dinners out - not all for the anniversary, but it worked out nicely I must say, & was a nice end to DH's week-at-home vacation! Friday nite some long time friends were back in the area to take care of some business & took us out to the local casino for the Friday nite seafood buffet - Yumm!!! Saturday nite finally met up w/a cousin that has lived in Henderson for about 3 years now - but I haven't seen in over 18 yrs. They wanted to check out the Avi casino (our local casino below Laughlin) so met them there for dinner in the little Italian restaurant. Then Sunday was our anniversary so we headed up to a nice steakhouse (Saltgrass) in one of the Laughlin casinos & then discovered the river walkway along the river side of the casinos. We've lived here over 11 yrs now...
S21 got his 1L public service internship w/the Phoenix Dept. of Justice, so is now gearing up for living back in the area for the 10 wks of summer, completing his financials for 2nd yr of law school, & his finals. Doing well - Happy Camper!! S18 still living here at home - slinging plaster & hanging at the river. DH has some more vacation time coming up end of June, so we've begun talking about a driving trek for us to spend a couple days w/D25 & SIL in Idaho, a run thru Yellowstone & a few small towns in Wyoming, & loop around to Northern Iowa to spend a couple days w/my folks, possibly including July 4th (DH really likes the town fireworks show they put on there!). He's moved the 2nd week (that would have been at home now) to the last week of October for a trek to Boston area to visit w/S21 & possibly an early Thanksgiving celebration w/my sis there in Maine...
As I said, we're just putzing along. Putting finishing touches on the side patio w/the garden wall stackers finally, beginning the planter area below it and the continuation of laying brick paver sidewalk along the back of the house - hopefully will get most of it done this year before the real heat of the summer sets in. My sis found a perfect outdoor shower on sale at LL Bean (remembering I had mentioned last year wanting one), so that is now part of the picture. And, I'm still hemming & hawing about what I'm going to do next year... They've already asked me about the 7th grade math opening at the jr hi next year. I'm thinking a year off would really be nice - but we'll see how the exam turned out, & if there's a spot at the HS - maybe............(I know there will be one the following year so I'm game to wait). I head up to Flagstaff for a retreat for my little p/t job in July & am hoping to tie in a visit w/the math dept. head at NAU to see about the possibility of independent study for the next 5 requisite math classes I need before I can get into the distance learning masters program I want thru there. Just more of the same.
But for now, I'm doing a lesson plan to submit for my SEI on line class, & starting my Calculus exam review & off to see if this weeks quiz is online yet so I can get started before inundated w/little people activities. Have a good day all! Wish I could even think about the May get together, but I know you ladies will have a blast - the one I stopped by in Vegas was surely a success...

Hi Jo
You are always one busy lady. I was never any good with math in high school and still remember the terrible time I had with algebra. I admire you taking all the advance courses that you do.
Sounds like a lovely weekend for your anniversary and getting to have dinner out with friends.
Sure sounds like to me you should use those gift certs you got for Christmas with all you do you could use a little pampering. Remember we also have to take care of ourselves not just those around us.
Good to see you hope you do really well on your exams I have a feeling you will.
HUGS
happy anniversary to you two!
Sounds like you have a lot of positives going! productive, involved! it is great!
Happy Anniversary
I subbed yesterday and numerous kids asked me to come back and teach..they didn't care for what! LOL said I was their favorite...must have been sincere because they don't gain anything from sucking up to the sub! LOL
