Phishing Scam

I had always heard about so-called phishing scams in the news, where people will send you legtimate looking e-mails that appear to have come from a company and asking you for credit card info or other personal info. Well, today in my e-mail I got what looked like an e-mail from Amazon.com, where I am a regular customer. The e-mail claimed that "unusual activity" had been reported on my account there and that I needed to click on this link to confirm my information is correct. It also said that if I didn't do this immediately that my account would be suspended.
I read through the e-mail a couple of times and had DH read it for me. He also said that it sounded like phishing to me and then he noticed (which I hadn't) that the e-mail had a date of January 21, 2008. Is this something a phishing scam does as well, put an arbritary date on their e-mails, thinking that you won't notice it? Anyway, I deleted the e-mail, because I just knew that it wasn't legit. If this was legit and Amazon does want to suspend my account for now, they are more than welcome to do so, since right now all I can affrod to spend money on is gas in the car and food on the table, just like the vast majority of us Americans! I have a wish list on Amazon a mile long, but I won't be buying anything from them any time soon.
I feel special now! I've had e-mails from the Nigerian scammers and now a phishing scam e-mail as well.
