So most of you know we are doing renos..

And those who have done renovations to their homes know that this is a long process.  We  it seems like the word needs to be stretched out a lot  more because this is getting to be beyond  long now.

We have run into several  problems, walls not being plumb, floor  not level ... the normal stuff... but we have also come across other problems.  We ordered some laminate flooring in, we got it and like it, so were ready to lay it, but they did not have the  sills etc for the doors yet, so we waited to lay it til we got them... turns out they  have some but they are not any where near matching... so now the flooring is going back and we will get it elsewhere.

The crown moulding  we bought a couple weeks  has been all painted and stuff, then when we went to put it up we found that the size is not consistant... some are  out enough just to cause some problems.  All from the same bin and all say the same size but there is a big difference.

Then last night dh called me in to the kitchen, he has the cupboards built and and dishwasher plumbed and wired in... and I was to  give it a test try.....  well  this dishwasher does 2 jobs at once...it washes dishes as well as prewashes my floors... there is a big crack on the underside that the water pours out of... and I then had a flood in my kitchen.  That is going back tomorrow when we take dgd back.

My windows came today... yippee  and they look good, so for that I am happy!

Seems we have run into  so many little and not so little problems  but it does start to look like it might actually happen.

Now  to make matters worse  dh did get a call that he would not be back to work til mid June and that is tentative all depending on the markets and the weather and  who knows what else.  It does not look good for anyone here right now.

Now we have had a couple days of sunshine I have found some energy... so plan to go and thatch the lawn after work.  I have been trying to get out to do it for a while now but each time it rains or is too wet, but I think tonight is the night for it!

Anyhow  I  saw in my garden that there are some nice flower heads on my  peonies, and my daphne is  looking like the flowers will be opening up any day, and so many  of my lilies are shooting up... so I am happy as can be.  I dug 2 huge pails of dandelions  yesterday and one today   and now I am in the mood for gardening.

Hope you are all having a good week!

I can SO sympathize with you, Lor. I had the same problem with crown molding...one section that I had to replace and the pieces didn't match. I am doing wonders with spackle, however, and hopefully, when I'm finished, it won't be too noticeable to anyone but me.

And it does seem that as soon as you're ready to get to a big job, you find that first you have to do this...and before you can do that, you have to take care of something else...and it won't be hard to do but you can't get something that you need to do it for 2 weeks...and on and on. Very frustrating.

I'm working on my back bedroom now. The walls are painted and the crown molding is done (except for my spackling repair) and just needs another coat of paint. Then I have flooring, baseboards and molding around the window. That should pretty well do it. Not too much. The hard part, though, is that I have no place to put the furniture that is in the room and just have to move it back and forth depending on the area I'm working in. That's a pain.

I'm trying not to think of anything else that needs to be done until I finish this. Otherwise, it just gets overwhelming.

Good luck with all your projects.

{{{Lori}}} hang in there sweetie. When it's done it will all have been worth it. That dishwasher also cleaning the floors sounds a bit messy...;) Are you doing it all yourself? Sometimes just having the advice of a professional is a good thing. We've done that with some of our projects around here.

We still have our bedroom to reno but that won't be a major job, just paper/paint. Also need to paint the house exterior...sigh These things never end, do they?

No kidding, Lor, once you start on one project,
that begets another project and another one after
that LOL!

Hopefully by July you'll have all that you planned
completed :) :)

((((((((Lori)))))))))...sorry this is all taking so long! My friend, Karen, just went through this. It took her 8 months to get her kitchen and floors re-done, but it's over and it was so worth it.
