It has been very busy for the past five or so days. ds#1 was up here from Illinois and stayed at my house during that time. Unfortunately some of the time I wasn't around for him since I had prior committments. On top of that I was a bit under the weather on Thursday, so I wasn't able to get to the Milwaukee 43-59 Board gathering.
Saturday I had my 45th class reunion. I absolutely dreaded having to go but I had promised an old friend that I'd be there and that we'd be roomies for the night at the attached motel, so I had to force myself. I was pleasantly surprised. I had a great time! Everyone was so friendly and there was none of the old cliqueiness that use to be present. I guess that just like a fine wine, we're all mellowing with age. We all had such a good time that everyone is looking forward to the 50th in 5 years. In fact, there is so much enthusiam that we are tentatively planning a 65th birthday party for the summer of 2010. Most of us will be turning 65 during that year.
We have had a reunion every five years since we graduated. This time we had 31 of 59 classmates in attendance. Three are now deceased, so that means we had 31 of a possible 56 present. I think that was a pretty good turnout. We didn't loose any classmates until 1997, at which time we had been out of school for 34 years. The second was in 2004 and the third was in 2007. We probably will be loosing another one this year as one person is suffering from an inoperable brain tumor. That is hard for us to handle because in a class of this size we all know each other very well.
As I look back at the weekend, I see that it was a very good one.

Kaci I am glad you went to the reunion, it sound like you did have a good time!
I think that is a great idea to have a class 65th bnirthday party... neat idea!
Kaci, glad you thoroughly enjoyed getting together
with them; nice turnout for the class size.
DH's 40th is in August so we plan to go.
Missed you at the meet; I know we will have another
midwest meet at some point and will meet you then.
It was my first time in WI and enjoyed it!
Hugs,

I went to my first reunion for my 35th and was very pleasantly surprised. Like with yours, most of the cliqueness was gone and what I found were good friends who were celebrating still being here on this earth. I forgot how involved I was during high school and so many remembered me that I have to laugh. I'd been so shy that I didn't think many beyond my corner neighborhood girls would recognize or remember me.
And then one guy told me that he'd always thought that I was "just like Patty Duke's British cousin" and I laughed and laughed. I had to ask him if he did realize that Patty Duke had
