Now most of you are aware of the troubles I've been having with Janet, my ds's gf who is living with us and I employ. Why I rehired her after she yelled Shut up Arsehole to one of my daycare kids is beyond me. My enrollment was up and I was desperate for the help so I brought her back. After today I don't think she'll return.
I am a pretty laid back person but when I saw her holding Connor's fisted hands showing him how to punch Allie's block tower I lost it. I yelled ...Stop! That is Red Flag behavior and not allowed! How can I teach children to use words and not hands when my help is teaching them to punch?! The response I got from her is...I guess you're going to get dramatic now huh? Excuse me?! This was after she disrupted my story time by opening all the food and dishes containers in the kitchen center. Hello, who's the teacher/boss?
Lunchtime was a trip. My rule has always been eat lunch first then fruit. The older kids finished first so she got out the fruit in front of the little guys. Once the little guys saw the fruit they refused to eat lunch. By now my fuse was extinguished and I said...we never bring out fruit until EVERYONE'S finished lunch. She said she forgot...she's only heard this rule for over a year. Sorry, no excuse.
As she was setting up the cribs I went in and told her she must adhere to my rules since its my daycare and these rules have served me well for 20 years. She said she needed to look for another job...yes you do. I'm trying to provide the best possible care where kids learn acceptable social skills. Punching and name calling is not acceptable behavior form the children and especially the employees. she said she needed top look for another job...yes you do. If she returns tomorrow is anyone's guess but I'm hoping not.

Hugs...Ahh Bernie...you are right...she is wrong....It is as simple as that....Don't you wonder where some get there ideas of how to work with kids....I dealt with that too....and the employee would sit and ARGUE about how wrong I was....No way.....Lots of idiots out there...(No offense to your ds's gf.....BUT!!!) Hugs, and hope you can get some GOOD help!!!
Hugs, Ruth
Oh man Bern I would be stinking mad if I were you!
Immature and thoughtless is an understatement.
If she returns tomorrow, I would not let her in.
The kids are better off without her antics.

HI Bernie
Time for her to go that is for sure. I am sorry you had to deal with her for so long but if she cannot follow your rules then she need to find another job. Cannot believe she thought that was acceptable behavior to teach a child to hit.
Hope you find a good replacement for her quickly
Love ya
I agree with the others....drop-kick her!

wow..talk about a rock and a hard place...
bottom line: she is not appropriate for caring for kids
perhaps another job would be better for her ...talents...
a restaurant?
good luck with this...
gotta watch out for the kids....and your reputation...

Bernie,
GEEZ!! She does need to go...GF or not. Whatever made her think that was an acceptable
behavior.
Good luck on finding someone.
Hugs,
Kathie
