Well, the "flurry" has settled some here for a few days anyway. Mother (following her second fall and second surgery) is back in the rehab facility where they are doing limited physical therapy as she is still "non-weight-bearing" status. My concern now is that Medicare will decide she is on "maintaining " rather than "showing improvement" and will cut her off, forcing us to move her. This facility is such a good one and I would prefer she was allowed to stay in order to get the therapy all the way through to the walking stage. Unfortunately, the rules and regulations are so complicated and even the doctor can't always overcome them! We have offered to private pay, but were told they don't have that option. Grrr.....
Anyway, I am only spending about two hours with her each day now....a better situation as I have some time for me. Still every day is planned around her, and I do all her personal laundry. Believe me, with food spills and incontinence.....there is a fair amount of laundry.
I am planning to have both sons and wives and dgd here for a cookout on the 4th.....trying to re-establish some family normality. I am really pretty depleted of physical and mental and emotional energy and I am trying to actively regain some of that. More easily said than done when I am the sole caretaker! Some of you have experienced that so you know what I mean.
I'm taking time to read and respond to posts today...good to catch up again!
