Bear is gone

I woke up this morning and couldn't find Dave or Bear. I finally went out to the garage to get the car and drive around to make sure they were just talking to a neighbor longer than usual. No. The truck was gone and I just knew if I called Dave that he had taken Bear in to be put down. He had. Bear had begun being in so much pain this morning that he -as Dave said- it seemed like he was attempting to outrun his pain. Since he's been on opiates these last few months this was the best he could do for him. I was amazed that he didn't wake me. He's told me before that Bear will be our last dog because he doesn't want to have to do this ever again.Although interestingly enough if I should die, he said then he'd get another dog. A Scobby Doo Huh???

Bear gave us so much joy. I have to think that he was the most known dog in the Springs after he ate those 2 20s. Bank tellers in two banks would ask me, "Is that THE Bear?" Bear did live longer and stronger than our last dog Max and he really did fill up this house. Now the dispensing of his toys and food and new beds will begin. It'll be a long time before the gap he's leaving will be filled.-BB

Bobbie

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved Bear

I remember the story of the $20's !!

They are, unfortunately, "limited time offers"

after you have lost one, hard to go through it again!

Aw, BB, I'm so, so sorry. I've so enjoyed all the stories about Bear through the years. I know he will be missed by not only you, but everyone else who enjoyed his antics.

Take care, girl.

The story of Bear and the twenties.

We have a Chinese restaurant that delivers and I ordered some for dinner one snowy Sunday while I was working on my 'puter. I took out 2 $20s to pay the guy cuz I didn't have a 5 and left them on the end table by the front door. When the doorbell rang, I went to pay him and there was nothing on the table. So I paid him with my credit card and started looking since obviously I must have had one of those reknown meno moments. But I couldn't come up with anything else that would have distracted me. I had gone directly from my purse by my desk to the front door area and then back. I asked dh if he'd moved them getting a negatory good buddy response and then we looked at Bear. We both really figured that I'd find them in the freezer or something. But dh agreed that he'd "look for evidence" during their walks.

We did know that Bear sometimes would start drooling when he saw that we put money on that end table just in anticipation of possible pizza bones (crusts). So he must have just gotten carried away and
