..can't vacuum!
Sorry I didn't get back after my last post when we got back last week but after we replaced my laser printer which went foo-bar right before we left, then my hard drive decided to take a dump & DH had to rebuild my entire computer (luckily he had the computer they sent w/our DSL/Dish/land line bundle package from Frontier in his basement workshop). Anyway, I think I am about back in business if I can get accustomed to VISTA.
He finally found a Honda dealer w/a Civic on the lot he could sit in & drive and really liked it, so after many e-mails & calls w/several dealers hammered out a deal he could live w/for a 2008 2-dr - the salesman even delivered it to our driveway from the Kingman dealership yesterday. Of course the check for the totalled Tiberon only covers about 1/2 the new car - so now we'll have that additional payment. It's not like I'm doing any major driving - tho must say the road trip was probably a good thing as it got me back on the road again fairly comfortably (albeit not driving), as long as we stayed more to the highways rather than the interstates where most of the truckers are... I still get quite skittish whenever DH has to drive around truckers - especially if there's more than one following another - haven't quite figured out how I'll get over to DD's next month for my next turn at watching the g'kids for a long race weekend - interstate is the only way over the desert - tho I'm considering maybe taking the bus!!:) Where we live there really isn't a lot of local traffic in order to get around so it's not too bad & I did drive into town last Saturday to do a training session for my county providers, but I've still had DH drive me to the grocery store as needed. But since DH is on call 24/7 w/o a 2nd car it means me having to get up to either take him or pick him up anytime of the day or nite. I am still required to be in Phoenix next Friday for my p/t job "yearly retreat". I told them I would not drive to, or in, Phoenix but will try a ride down w/the gals from the Kingman office (60 miles) - there is a highway I can use to get there rather than the interstate so should be OK...
I went in for my follow-up X-ray right after we got back at the hospital where the ER physician that saw me was just leaving for a 5-day vacation so took copies to a "first" followup w/my family doc. He basically told me it appeared that my ribs & lung were healing well, could see no spinal compression, good rib spacing, etc., it was really too early & further testing probably wouldn't show anything anyway, gave me a prescription for Skelaxin, advised me to use heat (our spa being wet heat being even better) & told me to make an appt for 2 months out when he'd also take care of my annual stuff which was due this summer, but he wouldn't put me thru right now. I wasn't too happy when I left his office - muscle relaxants & waiting another two months to address the headaches and constant backache & pain if I actually do anything that involves my back muscles... Anyway since my housekeeper had given notice that she was on to different things after the end of June - I was thinking I could start doing it myself again - especially since I'm again not working f/t this year (our kids went back this past week)- nor at this point taking classes. Wrong!!! I vacuumed Tuesday - doing one room at a time, taking my time (not a vigorous undertaking kind of thing) then sitting to cool down & take a break. But by midnite I was up and needing a pain pill for my back again. Called the doc's office the next day for some kind of direction as to what I can or should be doing & what I can't or shouldn't do. The nurse was VERY helpful - & I could live w/her advice. Basically I'm still not supposed to be doing anything that will stress or strain my back muscles (more sit-on-the-rear time!!!) allowing the Skelaxin two full weeks to do it's thing, then if I still have the backache & pain it's time to have the doc do something different... Meanwhile in addition to the muscle relaxants 4xday, since we've got the spa, she said use it 4xday in at least 20 min sessions as well. That makes sense to me - it'd been nice if the doc had given me as much info last week!! It's kind of surprising to me that I can actually sit in the spa while it's triple digits out - but if there's any breeze at all, it can still feel pretty good upon getting out for a short while before the heat kicks in...
So here I sit, some more, just over 6 weeks since the accident, & still can't really do anything. I've read a couple books, now that I'm not on the pain pills, played a few games of spider solitaire, try to do a little work on a quilt project every day - tho to tell the truth it's just too hot to really be comfortable right now, or watching movies. Do have an interview w/a cleaning service Monday since obviously I can't keep up with it for now & it hasn't been done since end of June. The lawn is in need of mowing, and I find myself feeling "lazy" cuz I feel like I should be able to do more of the usual stuff by now...plus I'm getting NO exercise other than walking thru the house & keeping my outdoor potted plants watered daily.
Got a really wierd call early AM Wednesday - probably a wrong number - but Chinese speakers, so don't have a clue what that was about. Haven't yet gotten my packet from the attorney outlining what to expect in pursuing a claim, but still haven't heard from the truckers insurance either - even after immediately filing the required CA accident report forms w/their Dept. of Transportation asa the CHP report was available so I knew who the other party was.
Well, I can do laundry and as usual, there is plenty of that I need to get done.

Hi Jo
Well you were pretty seriously injured in that accident and I would think your back will take some time to get those muscles feeling better. Hard to sit around and not do much I know when you can see it needs to be done and if you try to do it yourself you just cause more misery for yourself.
So glad you Dh found
