Very guiet board today. So are you all watching the Olympic Opening Ceremonies??

They don't start here for another couple of hours but we will watch them. Kinda exciting I think. Love the gymnastics, swimming and diving, and the track and field. I also love the volleyball. Since China is a place I will probably never travel to it will be interesting to learn about Bejing and something about China.

What are your favorites to watch during the summer Olympics?

I just cannot believe it is August and next week Dh and  I will be heading back to DD's to wait for the birth of our third grandchild.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!!!

HUGS to all

Afternoon Mary (and all) . . I'll probably check the Olympics on & off this weekend - we are keeping 2 of our grandkids (3 year old dgd & 15 month old dgs) and they are keeping me hopping (in a happy way) . . so maybe after they head to bed - if I'm not too tired - I'll watch more of it . . but definitely will start watching them tomorrow evening - after their Mom & Dad come home.

Hi Sooze

The opening ceremonies were fantanstic!! Gotta give it to China. Funny volleyball is on here now too but it is beach volleyball the indoor was on this morning when I went to get my hair done.

We leave on Tuesday so yep getting things in order. Got the hair retouched and cut again so don't have to worry about that. Now to clean the things out of my purse that you cannot take on a flight anymore.

Getting excited to get this little born and give lots of hugs and kisses to Jacob.

Love ya

Hi MC

We just had our 6 year old dgs here for seven weeks. He comes out in the summer for visitation with his Dad and since Dad is still living with us we get to spend a lot of time with him.

Yes I do watch some of the Olympics and wasn't that a spectacular opening ceremony. My favorite part was the display of karate. Such even circles and with no marks on the floor. Such technology involved with the whole thing. I was very impressed. My favorite events are team volleyball, basketball, track, swimming, so many. If I were there I would really have to limit the events I would get to see.

I was saddened by the killing of the American in China and pray for his wife, in the hospital. I think it was a random act as they do.

Seven weeks with a grandchild is a lot, but glad that most of the time ( I hope) were good times. Not much time to recoup before going back to see dd and your other grands. You have fun there and kiss that new baby for me. I would love more grands but as of now, not going to happen. Have fun and have a safe trip. Love and

Hi Free

I agree if I were there I would have to limit the events I could go to or I would be out of money quickly.

Love ya

You all know that I'm a sports nut, but I'm having a tough time getting into the Olys for some reason. I think I just have a tough time sitting and watching too much tv at times anyway...too antsy, esp. if there are too many commercials.

I am enjoying reading The Oregonian's stories by their writers who are "embedded" over there, because they are doing behind the scenes reporting and also catching the daily life of the citizens and how the Olys are fitting in.

I like the swimming and track and field to watch the most. Again, probably because of the speed and shortness of it (maybe I'm ADHD?) I've always enjoyed the Winter Olys more because there are more "races" and fewer "performance-based" events.

I didn't watch the opening ceremonies, and was really not that interested, until I happened to catch a few events on the weekend. Now, I'm hooked! LOL

I've been enjoying all of it, the swimming, synchronized diving, gymnastics and even the horse jumping! Yep,

Jan
