Roof damage and Dh's elbow.

We had some excitement here on Saturday afternoon. We were watching the Olympics and suddenly we heard a very loud rumble. It lasted less than 30 seconds. Dh thought it was thunder I thought it was an earthquake. The skies  here were blue with storm clouds building to the north of us probably 50 miles away. I went out into our back yard to see if I could tell what had happened and there were concrete tiles from our roof on the ground. Dh got a ladder and got up to take a look at our roof and saw there were two sections where the tile was either lifted up or missing. One as big as five feet!!  Turn out we had a micro burst the somehow got underneath our roof and lifted the tile and slammed it back down causing the damage. The fire department came out to make sure there was no internal damage and to make sure the explosion had not come from inside our attic. Trying to get a roofer to come out today to check it out and find out what it will cost to repair it. We leave tomorrow to go back to Dd's to wait for the birth of her second child!! Thank goodness Ds will be here and to give us an idea what it will cost they will not have to have someone home. With fax and email we hopefully will be able to handle it from long distance

This morning the Dr's office called. Dh had, had an MRI on his elbow because it had been hurting since May when we were back in OH. Turns out he has a partical ligament tear. This will have to wait until we get back from Dds. Dr says he will probably need physical thearpy for it.

Sometimes it seems things just have to pile up and give you lots of problems huh?

Hi Jan

What was scary was the noise as the tiles were lifted up and dropped again. The noise was really loud.

Well let you know once this little one make an entrance. Dd is at the Dr office now so hoping they will have some idea as to how much longer. Dd is so miserable.

Love

Isn't our weather great! (NOT) Every time the winds really kick up w/the coming of one of our monsoon storms I get a bit apprehensive about what the damages will be after the mess we had a couple years ago from our little microburst that uprooted our huge eucalyptus tree and snapped a couple pine trees right in half..

W/this years high humidity the mosquitoes have been so bad in our neighborhood the past couple weeks this mornings paper actually announced fogging to be done next week. We've never had a mosquito problem here before...

Enjoy your trek & the new addition - hope "your people" can get the repairs dealt with timely - seems like it took us about 4 months to get everything settled & repaired after ours.
