In a word, HOT. It's been in the 100s here for 3-4 days. So, did very little. Also, on Friday on the way home from work I was rubbernecking around and lost balance on my bike when I had to make a quick stop. I fell over when I stopped and my head came down on the curb. Struck right above my ear. I saw stars for a minute, but got up and seemed fine.
Later I had a bit of a headache and Sunday morning, I woke with a bad headache and was dizzy a good part of the day. Good thing I wear a helmet or my noggin would've been sunny side up on the sidewalk. My helmet has a nice war wound on it.
Glad you got the tree done before the rain hit!
We went to town with a friend of ours, he wanted to buy Brittany some clothes for her birthday gift, but wanted her to pick them out so that he would know she liked them... then to dinner and a movie.
I had a quite weekend.
What plans do you have for this week?
Should've just waited on the above post. Now we've had driving rain for 3 days. We needed it of course, but still. 100-degree days followed by rain-rain-rain....it's nuts. But that's the NW for ya. My lawn needed the rain anyway. My flowers are loving it however, my tomatoes are not ripening!
I was in Minnesota for the weekend and had the best time visiting my sister and going to the Steele County Fair.
My sister says she has alot of tomatoes. If they'd only ripen up.
I love tomatoe sandwiches.
Slept in really late. I've been taking my alka seltzer at bedtime for the past week, doubling up on my Vit. C & Echinachea, & bought a multipack of Airborne at Sam's Club Wednesday & am holding whatever it is at bay - tho Friday nite I took another dose to fight the scratchy throat I woke up w/about 3am. S21 (who had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled a week ago Friday) developed a sinus infection the past couple days also. I subbed at the HS M, W & the jr hi Fri & there's another "crud" going around. By Weds. the science classes I was in were running about 1/2 full all day. At the jr hi Fri one of the 7th gr math teachers came in w/1/2 dozen spray bottles of Clorox, was spending her day enlisting her students to wipe down desks, lockers, doorknobs, pencil sharpeners, etc... She said she was tired of being sick... So far so good for me.
Friends were supposed to be down Friday (using our guest room) for the weekend to have DH help them move some of the big stuff from their property down here now that G'd (the one whose DH was killed in Kuwait in April) has moved in w/a friend in town. They ended up having major well problems so put it off til next weekend. Tho G'd did call yesterday about still using the trailer.
It's been absolutely gorgeous here in the early mornings the past few days - perfect for getting out and doing lawn work. Still getting into triple digits by 9 or 10, but doable in the early hours finally. Except I still can't. I get to look at the weeds taking over, the lawn in need of cutting and edging, etc...and knowing my back won't allow me to work at it yet without spazaming(?) up later. I hate to bug DH about it w/his already grueling work schedule but it's frustrating me to no end as it's one of the jobs that I usually take care of. I got it cleaned up so well this Spring - spent several weeks pulling weeds & cleaning out dead pine needles, not that you could tell now! He did get the large rider mower fixed & ran it a couple weeks ago & it does get the lawn mowed tho it misses a lot of small spaces & leaves piles of mulch all over the yard + he just did the major part & left a lot undone. He's been spending the past week fixing the old broken lawn sweeper that's been in the shop since we moved here. I'll be sewing up a large catcher bag for that this week.
Anyway since I did the grocery & household necessaries shopping around my other trips to town this week, I did "sit in my office stuff" yesterday while starting laundry. This paydays bills paid (which included trying to figure out how to work the amortization program in my new Vista computer for a new loan for an adjacent property to the one we already own in Maine (next to my sis & BIL that DH just couldn't turn down). NOT! Ended up finding a freebie downloadable chart finally after fumbling around for quite a long time & not getting anywhere on my computer. Getting it together for an internet math class thru our com.col. that starts Monday. Received my financial aid package from NAU yesterday (surprisingly as I didn't fill out my Masters app. til 2 wks ago, the FAFSA last weekend & their website says they close it end of June) & classes start this week. I was thinking I'd have to wait to start my Masters classes next Fall as I want to do it all on loan $$ so I can use the Federal forgiveness program to write it off since I'm a math teacher in a low-income qualifying area. Anyway, it's going to need some tweaking as it's much more than I want to borrow right now, plus now that I'm taking the MCC class, I won't be a 1/2 time student (at least 2 courses w/NAU) so I may have to wait anyway if it drops. It appears that if I'm less than 1/2 time student I won't qualify for the loan $$ at all. I will talk to a person tomorrow I hope & straighten that out - then see if there's any of the classes I want w/open seats left. It'll take at least a week for a book to ship if I do. It's been almost two since I ordered my math book - but buying them used from Amazon.com saves enuf to makes it worth the wait.
My weekend in a nutshell. D21 flies back to Boston from Vegas on the Thursday nite red eye. Usually not a problem, except this time we will aim for DH making his way around his work schedule to do the driving since I still don't feel comfortable driving on the freeway. Kind of a drag to think that way when it was never even a consideration before...
