I'm normally happy with my age. But this birthday on Sunday is getting to me. I think it's because
40 was fun, 41 and 42 still seemed young but now 43 is climbing...I think I'm starting to feel old.
It's just getting harder to do things. I know I should be exercising more and watching what I eat more.
It's just not that fun. I'm always the one who cheers everyone up on their birthday. This year I feel a cloud
might come over me on Sunday and just stay there. Whew...that was pretty dramatic.
Any advice?
Thank you!

Happy Birthday iShariii -
My previous mil once told me "if you didn't know what year you were born - how old would you be??"
Hi Sharii and welcome! Great advice from MC, there. Couldn't agree more. I have a birthday coming up that I'm not completely thrilled about, and I'm 11 yrs your senior. But ya know, I'm much more happy today than I was at 35.
Look at the half-full glass rather than the half-empty one, I guess. I have to work at that sometimes, but it does work. I am amazed at my numerical age, actually. I sure don't feel that old! It's nice when people tell me I don't look that old (if they're lying to be nice, I choose to believe them, LOL!)
On my birthday the past few years, I have taken the day off from work and just done things that I wanted to do but never get around to. It usually involves visiting a public garden or something like that. Nature is very nurturing to me. Maybe you could try doing something really nice for yourself to get over this hump.
I bet you'll feel better once this day is behind you. It's just a date, after all.
Hi Sharii, and Welcome to our group!
I think most everyone hits an age that shocks/ scares them, but you know what we all get past it
Shari
Hi Lor...is it Lori?
Thank you so much for taking the time to write that. You are right about the aches and pains.
My 3 kids get them all the time. I have a card that sits next to my computer that says.
"How old would you be if you didn't know how old you are?" Everyday I read this and
I always think oh 29 for sure. You reminded me it's just the number. My mom had a
stroke a couple of months ago and I think that's why I see things differently. She's so
young to me at 69. It's scary.
Thank you so much for setting me straight. I'm glad I stumbled on this site.

Hi Shari
Welcome to our board. I am Mary one of the cls here on this board. Age can be such a funny thing. For me my 50th birthday was the one that really scared me. My 40's I was so busy with teenagers and getthing both my kids off to college.
Hello,
I just turned 43 in August.
Hello, I'm like mindy....61 ...I just don't seem to get upset or down by birthdays,...my hubby frets about each one....and I just keep telling him....what is the alternative....I try to find joy each day...and enjoy something each day...I smile each day and laugh frequently...I guess getting older is something I can't do anything about...so I don't stress about it....Put a smile on your face, and live each day....
Hugs, And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Ruth
