Keep or give up?

There was a question in the local newspaper, last weekend that made me think. With the economy the way it is, what could you give up and what could you not give up, to save some money? One said she'd move to a smaller apartment, but couldn't give up her continuing education. Another could give up her spur of the moment travels, but couldn't give up her pedicures. Still another could give up her Starbucks, but won't give up her wine.
I would have a lot of trouble giving up my Friday dinner out. It's not expensive, just a meal at the local family restaurant, but I don't have to cook it or clean up after. I could easily give up a couple of magazine subscriptions. There's so much info available online, that I really don't need more papers cluttering up the place. I generate enough clutter by myself! LOL
What could you not give up and what would you have no trouble doing away with, if needed, to make ends meet?

Hi Jan
Great question. I would give up a few things but never my internet because it keeps me connected to family and friends that live far away from me. Also love my nail apts and pedicures but if I had to I would give those up.
We eat out so rarely anymore that is something we cut back on when Dh retired almost six years ago. We have only one car now and Dh's truck. We stay home a lot more now being more careful on how much gas we use. Plan our trips to run errands so we

I have already cut back on a lot: clothing, gifts
I would cut down more if necessary: magazine subscriptions
I have always been pretty conservative, clipped coupons, don't run up credit card
THis summer we did something for the grandkids they LOVED and it was free: a tour of county playgrounds...we did 6 this year
I wonder if we need a landline when we have cell phones
we could cut down on dinners out if necessary
we are cutting down on heating , keeping the thermostat low, using an elec heater in the room we are in
could cut down on travel, we have already
