Keep or give up?

There was a question in the local newspaper, last weekend that made me think. With the economy the way it is, what could you give up and what could you not give up, to save some money? One said she'd move to a smaller apartment, but couldn't give up her continuing education. Another could give up her spur of the moment travels, but couldn't give up her pedicures. Still another could give up her Starbucks, but won't give up her wine.
I would have a lot of trouble giving up my Friday dinner out. It's not expensive, just a meal at the local family restaurant, but I don't have to cook it or clean up after. I could easily give up a couple of magazine subscriptions. There's so much info available online, that I really don't need more papers cluttering up the place. I generate enough clutter by myself! LOL
What could you not give up and what would you have no trouble doing away with, if needed, to make ends meet?

Mary, I know things are really tight for you. You do have some good, money saving ideas for the rest of us. I've been making sure to turn off lights when I leave a room, as well as being sure to

Kaci, yes, the cell is worth it! I'd hate to give up mine, since I feel more secure with it. It's also been handy the few times I needed it to call AAA, when I had car trouble.
When I pick up an item while shopping (other than for groceries), I've started to ask myself if it's something I really need, will I use it, will it improve my life or add to my happiness. If I answer yes, then I'll buy it.
The perennials are a great idea. Every spring I buy flats of annuals and often never get all of them planted. Such a waste, just to turn them into compost!
