None of us likes to admit that we are influenced by advertising gimmicks that have no real value except to encourage us to buy a particular product. But I have come to realize that I am strongly influenced by the color of dishwashing liquid. I think we are all old enough to remember when it was all creamy white or creamy pink. Then we got the dark green stuff, then lemon yellow and then germ-killing brownish-orange. I liked the green and was able to live with the yellow because it had a nice scent. But the brownish-orange was just totally unacceptable.
And now! Now we have Sea Breeze Blue, Country Garden Pink, Green Apple Green (light) and Lavendar Medley Purple in addition to the regular green, yellow and b-o. I would buy one of each (except the b-o) just to be able to line them up and have all those colors on my shelf...with a couple extra purple ones because I like that scent. But a few days ago, when I was in the store, I found some dishwashing liquid that was...RED! My kitchen is red! It matches and I love it. Even then, I didn't think too much about it until that evening when I was getting ready to wash up the dishes...and suddenly experienced a little spurt of excitement because I was going to be able to use my red dishwashing liquid. At that point, I realized that I've gone way beyond normal boundaries and I need to do something about it. What should I do? If I hadn't just bought six bottles of red dishwashing liquid, I do a self-intervention and force myself to use another color...brownish-orange would probably be best. As it is, the only thing I can think of is to create some really greasy, crusty pans that will be absolutely awful to clean. Even the red liquid won't help me there.
Help me, ladies!

OMG I was here just about to fall asleep and read this and you sure woke me with a jolt. I can't stop laughing. This is too funny. Now I have to tell you I have cut back a whole lot on dishwashing detergent I do buy it and yes it is green or yellow, love the smell, but the reason is that I use more of dishwashing machine powder. It goes in the machine BUT it goes in the sink with anything that needs the tiniest bit of soaking. Works like a dream. Dirty baking dishes dump in a bit turn on the tap and looks like there is nothing going on but half hour later grab a brush and off it all comes. I know, I'm wird but next time I do need some I will be sure to look for red just for fun. LOL. Thanks for making me smile.
Please excuse the little yellow hat.

Kat, you just made my Monday with this post!
I don't go by the color but I do go by the scent... I am one of those who opens the cap and takes a good long whiff... the brand makes no diff to me as it is all about the smell.
Dear Kat
Well I think it is time for an intervention. I am not influenced by the color of my dishwashing liquid but can understand this can
Geez, what does this say about me? I just use clear stuff....pretty boring, I guess! LOL!
