I have a problem.

None of us likes to admit that we are influenced by advertising gimmicks that have no real value except to encourage us to buy a particular product. But I have come to realize that I am strongly influenced by the color of dishwashing liquid. I think we are all old enough to remember when it was all creamy white or creamy pink. Then we got the dark green stuff, then lemon yellow and then germ-killing brownish-orange. I liked the green and was able to live with the yellow because it had a nice scent. But the brownish-orange was just totally unacceptable.
And now! Now we have Sea Breeze Blue, Country Garden Pink, Green Apple Green (light) and Lavendar Medley Purple in addition to the regular green, yellow and b-o. I would buy one of each (except the b-o) just to be able to line them up and have all those colors on my shelf...with a couple extra purple ones because I like that scent. But a few days ago, when I was in the store, I found some dishwashing liquid that was...RED! My kitchen is red! It matches and I love it. Even then, I didn't think too much about it until that evening when I was getting ready to wash up the dishes...and suddenly experienced a little spurt of excitement because I was going to be able to use my red dishwashing liquid. At that point, I realized that I've gone way beyond normal boundaries and I need to do something about it. What should I do? If I hadn't just bought six bottles of red dishwashing liquid, I do a self-intervention and force myself to use another color...brownish-orange would probably be best. As it is, the only thing I can think of is to create some really greasy, crusty pans that will be absolutely awful to clean. Even the red liquid won't help me there.
Help me, ladies!

Ah, Kat, sometimes it's the little things in life that drive us around the bend, isn't it. Because of allergies, I pretty much stick with the lemony scented yellow ones. I don't react as badly to them as I do to the flowery scented ones. An apple/cinnamon scent would really be nice, though.
Yep, the dishwasher powder is great for really greasy things.

Ah, yes, Kat, you have succumbed to the "Hidden Persuaders" of marketing..they are so sneaky and diabolical...catching us with our hidden desires...colors scents...
you have taken the first step: admitting you have a problem...LOL
now what to do? yes, force yourself to use the ugly ones,,,at least sometimes
of course, what you do in the privacy of your home..is your own business!!
we won't tell
as for me...I like the blue ones (what is it with me and blue: my house, my car, my dish detergent,..all blue)
and if I could find that blue one WITH the vanilla scent..well, it would be heaven
doesn't take much to make us happy!
